i'm new. bear with me
it's may now and beirut has returned to us...again. he is a tall and distinguished gentleman. i got him a yellow tag for his collar. everything looks striking with black. just now he was charming the whole girl's volleyball team in the park. he allowed their pets and a sunny spot on one of their camping chairs, but when a dog showed up, he took his leave.
he came to us on monday, or rather i picked him up from the spca on monday. the lady remembered us. she said he hissed at her. he didn't seem to register me at all. it was like he was staring right through me. and he stayed as quiet as, florgive me, a mouse all the way home. i kept him in the carrier and lay in the grass beside him, allowing him to see his old haunts. we stayed like that for 10 minutes or so.
inside, he spent some time grooming. his coat was dusty, but before long he was his usual sleek and shiny self. at length he walked over to me and flopped down on my chest right under my neck and demanded excessive and vigorous pets for an extended period. i told myself he remembers me after all.
yesterday was his first day outside. he had the best day. he made friends with charlie the orange and white neighbour cat. i watched them. it was very cute and funny. beirut kept stalking charlie then freezing and sniffing the grass like he wasn't doing anything when charlie looked at him. they spent quite a while together in the trees behind the house. today i saw charlie in the yard looking for his new buddy while beirut was cat napping inside.
mei-mei is another story. they met through the screen door when beirut was re-discovering the balcony. she did a lot of talking--as she does. he hissed and growled. and since then he hisses or growls up at the window she's perched in meowing her head off at us.
so.. not the best.
hopefully we will work it out. because they are the tuxedo twins.
i'm so sleepy i don't know what has happened to me, but i'm so glad tomorrow is a holiday.
the day before was our gala, so it was quite the week. i had to do little presentations/say words at each.
