dappled light

mom and i had a lunch date with our friend jesaidy. she picked us up and took us to captain's boil. she really loves captain's boil. i followed her lead and got a sizzling plate with 4 mussels, 2 clams, 2 shrimp and some chicken. she asked me what's my usual spice tolerance. i said medium, at which she recommended i get mild. "i'm not a spice baby." i assert. she looked at me unconvinced. which of course made me very determined to get medium spice. haha. which i did and it was fine. what would i have done if it wasn't though? anyways we had a lot of interesting conversations and didn't get home until 4. 

this was stake conference weekend and our choir performed. thanks for asking, i wore a black dress with black polka dot leggings and red booties. mom and i practiced so often that i felt pretty confident with our songs. hopefully my vocal enthusiasm is the right amount for a good choir blend. i remember one time practicing to sing a song in church--a sisters one. and amy got frustrated with me and said something like "laura! there are other volumes besides loud!" that may be...but my volume gets stuck on loud and louder. enthusiasm, as i said.

we got home after 9:30 and i needed a snack. so i whipped up some peanut butter and honey toast and et it. and it tasted weird. like the butter was garlic or parmesan butter. both mom and bethany denied putting anything into the butter. so i got the butter out of the cupboard and smelled it. yep--parmesean smell. it was rancid and i et it. blech.

today the choir was not singing so we didn't have to go early. but we DID go early because i wanted a good seat. and i got one. i saw marta and i said hi to her and she actually looked at me and answered me. but she didn't look happy to see me if you know what i mean. i don't know. it could be in my head. anyways that progress. we sat in the 3rd row. we got a new stake president. the same guy that told me i look like doug in a dress. haha. that was many years ago.
