2nd annual pathways polar bear swim
we decided to stop at locarno beach. it was still light when we arrived. we quickly shimmied and gyrated out of our clothes, meted out glow sticks, and took some selfies. blair's get up was something else. besides his usual prosthetic bozams, he wore a t-shirt and pants with a banana hammock over top and a cat-in-the-hat type hat atop his bushy fluffy curls. henry was only wading up to his knees. maria said she was going to dip her feet but didn't. steven, blair and i were all in.
numbness quickly set in. i felt like if i curled my toes they might crack right off. the sea floor was mushy but steven and i walked quickly until we got to our waists. it was beautiful out there. the water was a smooth steely grey and the vancouver skyline twinkled in one direction and the mountains faded off into the sea in the other. blair was taking his sweet teensy footsteps time and meanwhile our legs lost all sensation. he finally made it out to us and on three we all dunked send came up gasping and screaming. steven swore.
instantly we were filled with elation. as we strode back to shore steven quick dunked at least 2 more times. rawrr!
towells, changing, and hot chocolate followed. i had 2 cups but some of the others said they had 4 and even 6. it was good to drink something hot.
then we ate some pasta at joe's deli. the end.
whelp except my finger tips are still chilly.
