la belle lune

martha is has been visiting me.  she needed to practice taking the bus all the way to my place and then the next day taking transit to the airport because that's what she will be doing in a couple of weeks when she goes to visit michelle in ottawa.  i'll be on vacation.

anyways today was a quiet day.  we started the day with my ward's fast and testimony meeting on zoom. after that we spent some time doing our own thing.  i was blogging and martha was reading her scriptures and snoozin.  we decided to take retro sleeping bag out to the park and read, so we did.  we laid it down right under the burning bush tree and enjoyed the breeze.  the park was pretty quiet and still.  a few dog walkers came and went.  one little cute dog came up to say hi.  sometimes we stopped and chatted.  martha went home to pee twice.  i was reading jane eyre.  i was at a good part--the part when mr. mason comes and get's mysteriously wounded and jane is tending to him in the darkness, fearing for mrs. poole.  oh jane eyre! why are you so good??  yesterday at the lake natalie asked me if i had read it before.   it's her favourite book too.

after a few hours the ground was too hard for me.  when we got home i had a little lay down before we broke our fast.  our break the fast meal was a weird assemblage.  a tiny bit of left over mediterranean salad, the fabulous watermelon, feta, basil, lemon salad i had made for breakfast the day before--that really hit the sweet spot, pepperoni sticks left over from the day at the lake, as well as carrot sticks and baba ganoush.  we ate these first.  i fairly inhaled mine.  then i made us pepperoni cheese toasts out of left over hotdog buns from aunt camp.  martha suggested we dip them in bbq sauce and she was right to suggest it.

martha had never seen "mary poppins returns" and we deemed it a good enough sunday movie, so we watched it together, her on the camping cot that she's been sleeping on and me lounging on the couch and editing photos.  the lap top on my belly thouroughly heated me through and through.

i had promised martha an evening walk and we decided to take that walk at boundary bay beach.  the sun was very low and glowing a rusty red as we drove out to tsawwassen.  it was my first time going there since covid and i wasn't sure if it was even open, but it was.  we passed lots of beach goings heading home.

the sunset was splendid. it was one of those orange pink and purple ones.  it was such a nice night and martha and i really enjoyed walking along the paths. we saw the tiniest bunny ever and everywhere we looked was a beautiful view.  but it wasn't until we turned back that i saw the most gorgeous huge full moon rising.  it was so huge.  we sat down to watch it rise but the mosquitoes started biting me so we got up and kept walking.

when we got home i made, with martha's suggestion, a pineapple smoothie and i really out did myself.  i put a big hunk of ginger in there, and a couple of spoonfuls of this coconut 'mana' that i've had in my cupboard for ages.  it was spicy and delish.

now i sleep.

Sounds like a beautiful day. I had a very nourishing Sabbath day too and I really needed it.
