i woke up today and that's the positive--the plus. the negativity ratio was that i woke up at ten after 9, the point being that i like to leave for church at 9:15. well yikes. clothes went flying off and on and off and on and off and on again. how come when i need to be efficient and quick--that's when i have a clothing crisis? there's no use in questioning it. it's what happens and it happened to me today. the clothing that stuck to me during this clothing hurricane, was a bit strange. the lace of my shirt that was under my other shirt, was ripped. my two knee high socks had holes in the front at the top of each sock. i made myself make do. i scrunched the socks a bit and i made sure the lace didn't hang down below the overshirt. i put on my new shrug, not giving myself time to evaluate whether it went with this outfit or not, and slipped on karey's boots and took off for church.
i had to hop skip and pop myself through the chapel doors urged by the ward usher, and stepped over the threshold just as the sacrament prayer began. and so, ill prepared, feeling awkward and large and gangly in high heels i was stuck standing throughout all of the sacrament. there were no seats near by and i couldn't interrupt by walking up and over to the front where i usually sit. the worst part was when the passers of the sacrament lined up to go back, they were right beside me. i was squished up against the folding doors and trying to make myself smaller. at least the usher was also standing there. at least that.
when leilani walked into primary she was all "oh look at you! you look gooood. did you lose weight?" (um no. but please let your words come true) "what is it then? you look good!" (i don't know it's kind of like magic)
we had a presidency meeting after church and i'm excited about some of our ideas. somehow i volunteered myself to give the message at our next teacher's training too. one minute we're discussing our theme and the minute theoretical discussions become much more real to me and more theoretical to others. truly i've crossed some sort of line in my life. i'm excited to teach. i love teaching and facilitating gospel discussions. not that i'm rad or anything... i'm just saying that i've come to a point where i know from experience how fulfilling it is to work with the spirit and feel personal revelation in preparing and to be made more than i am during the actual teaching time. i just don't feel afraid. i feel happy. i feel happy that i'm happy.
so i've pretty much been a pathetic oozing slug since arriving home from nanaimo late on the 30th. as i once aptly explained: i'm a slug and slugs don't care. on new year's eve i managed to get myself out of the house in the late afternoon. i walked down to safeway and bought some groceries--the place was a mad house. then i stopped at the fruit and veggie place and got some of those. on the way home the cold was giving me a headache like when you eat cold things too fast.
i talked to bethune for a while on the phone. i planned to make her honey whole wheat bread. then it came to me like a knife--in the much ado about nothing, going on at safeway, i forgot to buy honey. and like a javelin piercing my side, i realized that i was famished. so i went out to buy honey. i got to save-on foods and drugs a couple minutes before 6. i got there with some other last minute desperate people. we faced the barricaded doors together. not to be deterred i drove to three different places before giving in and borrowing 2/3 c of honey from work. i mean it was super important to bake bread on new year's eve. super important.
so then i got quiznos.
and then i watched a new show--the bridge. i watched many an episode and i baked bread. and bethany's post made me go back and read my old new year's back in the day. and i heard people upstairs yelling happy new year's and i heard fire crackers in the distance. not my most celebratory new year's eve. but it's a true account. i didn't go to bed until 3am.
yesterday i finally saw harry potter. it was good.
today karey and i talked for about 3 hours. i also had a talk with elicia on fb.
now i should go to bed. only one more day until i'm a working woman again. i almost miss work. hu??
