no. 1

so i got a cold down in seattle at the rand's house, where i seem to like to experience weddings from an ill perspective. the funny thing that happened at the rand's house was that sister rand, when showing us around, asked if there was anything we needed. that's not funny. it gets better. we were all "no, we're fine." that's not the funny part either. here it is. she goes up to me, nudges me and says "the last bridal party we had here, the girl thought she could get away with her dress if she picked it up on the way, but it was terrible. so they sent the dad to the store to get some fabric and while the mom was at the temple with the daughter i was elected to sew the skirt on!" at first i thought she recongnized me because of the ol' nudgerooni, but then i realized, no she didn't. an interesting twist on our family story hey? haha. amy's always trying to get away with things....little trouble maker. and sister rand sure did a good job on amy's dress! :)

but this post isnt' about that. this post is about how i stayed inside almost the whole of new year's day. i was recooperating. recooperating from sending heather off, from christmas, from sloan's birth(not that i did a lot for that one, but i stayed up late and got up early the next day, so... :) ), from the wedding and from the reception and from new year's eve and most importantly from my cold. basically i spent all day in slummy clothes, with nappy hair and only did a bit of puttering and a lot of nothing. did crosswords with nikki. watched bridget jone's diary 2 and had a long catch up convo with bestbudtothe7thpower. then around 10pm i had to go deposit edith's rent cheque and so i took a walk up to the bank. i was walking back, in my yoga pants, light brown hoodie, heather green scarf, and coon skin cap over two low messy ponytails, minding my own business. i was crossing 70th, trying not to slip and trying to decide whether or not i had in fact brushed my teeth that day, when a car turning left kept inching up really close to my legs. it had a big white hood. i was just looking up to give a nasty look and an "i'm walking here!" new york style thing when i hear "happy new year!" my head snaps around and who is wishing me a happy new year, instead of running me over, but smoulder eyes himself! i flashed him a grin and waved and that was that. he turned left and i made my way home crunching on icey roadways and sidewalks.

then we played some mad gab.

then i went to bed.

and that was my first day of 2009.

hey! I didn't "think I could get away with it"!! how dare she! I didn't want it to be that short, it showed bum for heaven's sake! and she did NOT sew on the skirt. She didn't even touch it. haha. funny, though.

ooh, smoulder eyes! you were in his heart this new years no doubt.
