cell phone pics of the 2006 christmas season
sarah's visit to vancouver christmas 2006
i looked in toys are us for a table top foosball game for jordan. entering toys are us when we were so tired and hot and when there were soooooo many other people in there was a big mistake. i tried to look at some big box but let it listlessly fall back to it's spot and walked away. an asian man bumped me with his back pack as he passed me going the other way and in protecting myself i pushed my hands out after him. "laura!" said a shocked sarah behind me. "he bumped into me with his bag so i wanted to push him over." i told her listlessly. then we laughed and laughed. later we realized that sarah had thought i said something totally different like i thought he was trying to take my bags or something.
i asked her something that's been on my mind for a while. "what do you think a curled lip looks like?" i explained what i meant. like in books people curl their lips in disdain but what does this look like in real life? amy's rendition was so hilarious. it was so unexpected. she curls her lip under, where my idea is curled outwards.

sarah resumed our christmas tradition of a visit and some shopping before christmas this year, much to my delight. the elfin baby came too. our visit had a rough start due to the wind storm which pounded stanely park and thus closed the bridge. i didn't know a thing about it until i reached the barricaded stanley park causeway. then i had to try to make my way to the second narrows (with everyone else), through major intersections with lights out and so on and so forth. meanwhile a cold sarah with no cell phone felt sad and abandoned. by the time we got back to my place there was no time to do any shopping before i went to work. there was time to cut my hair though so i personally didn't think the "whole day was ruined" like sarah did. sarah and said elfin baby came with me to work so they could have the car to pick some things up for a bethany christmas project.
sarah was very al
lergic to the cats. and adriel didn't sleep well. and we did all our shopping packed into a long long long exhausting day. despite all this we had a lot of laughs. we were at metrotown at nine thirty when it opened it's doors. elfin boy, adriel was happy and contented most of the time. he especially liked to look around from the vantage point of the snuggly. there was a creepy guy who stared at sarah while she nursed. even when i stared back at him. he wasn't all there though. still it was UNpleasant. i found my amy stocking items within the first half an hour. the piece d'resistance was the white fluffy feather hair piece. after that i kept seeing more stuff that i wanted to get her but i had to hold to my guns. sarah and i had continuousyment of amy's list during her whole visit. "bum 3" we would say to each other and begin laughing. "wallop" we'd giggle. "doodlies and dadlies" we'd mention off hand and then guffaw. but our favourite was bum 3. we had no idea what it meant but that didn't impede our mirth in using it over and over and over. in fact it could have been bum 3 that kept us going that long long day. our biggest search was for bethany's purse. long and hard was our search. our search took us up and over and around and back again. our search brought us ultimately to aldo and to the teal purse that will bring bethany into spring, according to the girl there.

on the way home we discussed what to eat. our first idea was a chicken stir fry. but that was quickly dismissed as work. we thought of wendy's or subway or the mexican place by our place. we sat in silence. we decided on pizza because then we didn't have to move or get out of the car. so pizza it was.
sarah helped me mix up some scrubs. she named "mom's lavender orange dilly vanilly" scrub.
i got a bum wrist. sarah said "you don't have to do stuff with your bum wrist. you want it to stay bum." this really made us laugh and we said it over and over. on the ferry we sat by the dykes but they didn't bother us much. we had bc burgers and did a two person consequences in which bum 3, bum wrist and the russells featured heavily.
the definition of a curled lip
one night i took a break from doing amy's calendar and was hanging out with amy on the couch:
i asked her something that's been on my mind for a while. "what do you think a curled lip looks like?" i explained what i meant. like in books people curl their lips in disdain but what does this look like in real life? amy's rendition was so hilarious. it was so unexpected. she curls her lip under, where my idea is curled outwards.this is a curled lip combined with a disdainful look.
mom came by and gave it a couple of tries. this was even more unexpected and funny.
a walk on christmas day 2006

just before christmas dinner we went for a walk, (you can see my new beautiful scarf from bethany here), were crazy and made some funny videos that were terribly amusing to ourselves.
and those are the cell phon pics of christmas 2006.
