these things happened

last night i went to bed with dirty ankles. i had spent over 2 hours in the wild garden pulling out the vestiges of the summer wildlings. because it's spring. or it wants to be spring. and the crocuses and hyacinths and daffodils are popping up. there may even be a tulip or two that survived the marauding raccoons. i started in the blue chair leaning over, but soon i was bum down on straw matts in the grass.  it is actually amazing the swath of weeds and grass and twigs i pulled out. i left it on the grass so the world can be witness to my greatness. also i want to show mohammad.

that's how my ankles got muddy and i forgot about it. i saw them when i was  finally persuaded to swing my legs out of bed this morning. i showed my hunny. i knew it would shock him and somehow that delighted me. later after i had decided to wear a long skirt i said to my lover, "ya now i don't even have to wash my feet." lol his reaction was precisely what i wanted. delight x2. using dirty ankles to increase joy. check.

today i got a lot of comments about my outfit (purple maxi and short sleeve pink and blue flower sweater, rainbow wire hoops). melissa said she just loves the clothes i choose. she said "you just always choose joy. you are just a ray of sunshine."  that gave me a nice feeling of being seen.

the choir sang the prelude music again today. we sang amazing grace and we sang the last verse a cappella, a bold move for our little choir. but i think, i'm not sure because i was in the middle of it, but i think it was beautiful. i felt it in my soul.

but before we sang we got a front row view of the scramble to get a working microphone. brother liam just appeared carrying boxes which turned out to be karaoke mics and sound system and then he came down the aisle with two big speakers. they got it all set up with a mic stand and everything. impressive.

the sisters asked mom and i to join them for a tour at 1. we said we would stay after choir practice and then proceeded to drive home after choir practice. as we walked in the door i realized what we had done and told mom. she said she would just go to the bathroom and then we should go back. while she was in the bathroom bro suranyi knocked on the door. mom had asked him to come over and look at her computer. so i just went back to the church by myself. i had some good chats with the sisters about our past injuries but the guy never showed up, so i went back home. bro s. was still working on mom's computer. it took 2 hours and he almost gave up a couple of times but he finally found the problem, some corrupt file somewhere, and fixed it. amazing.

i made a parmesan grilled cheese sandwich while chatting with heather. and we chatted until it was getting dark here and it was almost time for bed for her. they are expecting 50cm of snow tomorrow. gulp. it's a big storm and they are supposed to get snow all week. we just hope they don't lose power again.

mom and i have started a little notebook to track our daily blood pressure obsession. today i got my best one 120/77 heart rate 77. i've had lower of the top number, but for me the bottom number is usually a bit above 80. so this was a win.

we engaged in a close game of quiddler. mom was winning the whole time until the last round when i got 70pts and passed her for the win.

what else... oh and on friday leilani and i stuffed ourselves at the public market (my first time) and drove down town to rogers arena to watch vancouver warriors play lacrosse (my first lacrosse game). i was really surprised at how big the show and the crowd was. there's a whole lacrosse world i knew nothing about. i wanted to go (we could go because they invited pathways to be their community table. dave and esther were manning the table. so pathways bought tickets) because i have heard stories of dad's glory lacrosse days but have never seen a game. it was really fun and our team won.
