dirt play

we closed early today. some building maintenance power shut down type thing. who cares. the point is we closed early. how delightful. i was out the door before one.

free. delicious.

i decided to spend my time in the dirt. first i dumped what was left of compost number 1 into compost 2. it stunk like cabbage farts. i wonder if i should add some stuff. i lugged compost number 4 down the stairs and started compost number 5. so productive. so ala mode.

a week or so ago i bought some mini daffodils in mini little pots from superstore. they are beginning to get buds. and roots were coming out the bottom of their little pots so i knew they needed a new home. so i lugged them upstairs as well as my potting soil, and started popping daffies. the daffies had tangled roots but guess what. i untangled them. i am here for the daffs. i made mom two bigger pots and myself a long box with a double row. so full of hope. so spring.

i had some succulents that needed bigger pots. so i did that too. just basically did a lot of plant care and got a lot of dirt everywhere. and it was fun.

what became of the snowman? he struggled to hang one. here you see he's feeling very unwell. mom and dad don't care. they just sit cozily at the table having breakfast giving snowman a cold shoulder.

and then all that was left of him were his  two little arms and a smudge of snow. alas. he was no more.
missing this hair right now. sigh.

Ah poor little snowman. I would have invited him in if it didn't mean going out in the cold. Spectacular hair as usual.
