tuesday happened like this

tuesday morning i was leaving for work a bit late.  as i rounded the corner of the house heading to the car, the bathroom window slid open and mom's head popped out with a friendly "hello!"  she leaned on the window sill clad in navy a navy polka dotted button up.  from the lighting i couldn't tell if her top was flannel or not so i said "are those your pajamas or is that your outfit today?" "my outfit!" she retorted, "are those your pajamas??" then she proceeded to tell me about an acupuncture school she found.  mom has been on the hunt  for an acupuncturist. despite me using my specific knowledge of people i know in the ward and asking them directly she insisted that i 'compose a letter.' to all the sisters.  so i reluctantly made a facebook post which mollified her for the time being.

later in the day annabella who had promised me to ask her tai chi group, called with a recommendation. i passed it on to mom. the acupuncture quest seemed to be on its way to fulfillment.  until it wasn't.  i was at work minding my own business, and 'pappa/mamma loves mambo' rang out.  that's my ringtone for mom and dad. on the way to her acupuncture appointment--one minute away from said appointment--the car died.  luckily it was just off of granville on a side street and only a few minutes away from me.  i told her to get bcaa to tow it to my mechanic samson at ok tire.  and left work early to go pick her up. on the way there i thought, no need to miss this acupuncture appointment.  if they had time so quickly for her they might still have time.  so we went to a nondescript house on tranquille st (appropriate no?) and sure enough they had time.

it was a beautiful sunny fall afternoon. i spent the time in sahib with the windows down feeling the sunny fall vibes and talking to katie and then a member, james called.  he is the sweetest guy.  he said that he felt like he could talk to me on the phone for an hour.  "you really light up my life, " said james.  that guy... very quiet and shy but once in a while he hits you with the sweetness.

after mom came out, freshly punctured, she revealed that she took so long because she forgot her banking password and had to reset it.  this is the 2nd time she's reset it since she's moved in.  i had her old password written down but she would have had to have remembered that at the time.  lol.  i quickly changed my records and we drove to the mall to pick up leilani who came, subway in hand, to help with some unpacking.

dad came out because how could he resist the lure of a subway sandwich? after munching our sandwiches leilani started lining the kitchen cabinets with mac tac.  my job was to cut the mac tac to the specified size which was not a very taxing mission.  after cutting 2 pieces while leilani struggled and sweat with her job i ambled over to the living room and started unpacking china cabinet boxes.  those are fun boxes to unpack because there  are many pigs and piglets to discover amongst other treasures. meanwhile dad was talking to leilani about how she needed to get married and she was taking it all in good humour.  he was very surprised that she was 49.  his guess was 22.  that was nice for leilani.

Hey! What is delightful about having your car die 1 minute away from your acupuncture appointment.? And to know that you're going to have to spend a lot of money to get it fixed. But I was certainly blessed that I had moved close to Laura so she could help me with my dilemma. And so blessed I had just turned onto a quiet street off a busy one.
