bread hoarder
this morning i went straight up to the 4th floor. j9 was starting on a fruit salad. i joined her and chopped strawberries. they had already made eggs and waffles. we all ate together and then had a meeting about our next steps.
basically we spent all day calling people.
we ordered sushi for lunch. mine cost 20 dollars. "i can't do this every day" i realized. 16 years of 2 dollar lunches had not prepared me for this moment. so after work i stopped at the grocery store. i went to the iga because i thought it might be less busy than the bigger stores. but many of the shelves were empty and the place was crawling with shoppers. there was hardly any bread left but luckily there were some of my favourites. the cranberry rustic loaf and the garlic asaigo loaf, to name a few. i bought four loaves. that's a lot of bread. maybe i'm a bread hoarder? but i'm thinking i'll be doing a lot of sandwiches in the next little while so... bread is my jam if you know what i mean.
i asked the cashier if it had been really busy. she said it was busier than christmas.... but less jolly. (i added the jolly part. she didn't say that).
and that's the window on what kind of covid world i lived in today.
