potlucking
i brought freshy fresh to family potluck. i wanted everyone to know the joy of freshy fresh. i feel like pink lady apples has really made it extra delightful. that's all i'm saying. while i was making it i saw my time at the potluck in my mind's eye. in my mind's eye i was initiating games and fun times. do you ever do that? i see myself doing things in my mind's eye. usually it's when i am giving a talk or teaching a lesson or something. this time my mind was working on the potluck because i found our christmas dinner so boring. and not very interactive and i started thinking about how i could make it different and my mind started showing me. and this potluck was a totally different experience for me. all i changed was me. we ended up playing skipbo...which did have some excruciating moments because so many people were playing and some of the said players were butt crew. let's see, dad, noah, adriel, kyle, sloan, martha, elizabeth, and gabriel all played. then we started playing phase 10 with dad, mom, martha and i and mary garbriel and adriel joined. that got interrupted by dessert. gabriel was slicing tuxedo cake with a dagger and pointing it around. he almost pierced mom's eyeball with it. then there was brent's deluxe brownies. i had a chocolate overload. mom and i started a game of consequence. we got mary and gabriel and josh to play. it was fun and funny. then adriel and sloan and noah joined us for the next round which added a lot of nudity, obesity , sweating and gaming to the stories. josh did one i really liked he said the girl (which was me i think) was wearing a bundle of kelp. haha.then most people were congregating in the living room where the conversation centered on boring and contraversial. blahhhh. i was still at the table. i called katie over. like in red rover. she was reluctant to leave the couch but i offered her mom's comfy chair. i wanted to talk with her about what i should do for my birthday. but gabriel overheard and said he didn't know what to do for his birthday. and that's when it all started. we came up with a plethora of great birthday party ideas. let's go over them:
1. carebear suit swim party
2. sychronized diving party
3. cross country skiing dance party
4. tight rope juggling party
5. barn tractor dance party
we ultimately went with the barn tractor party. apparently there is a barn with a tractor in it where they are staying. the details evolved in a magical way. we envisioned gabriel hiding in the tractor and everyone is like where's gabriel? then the music starts and the lights are flashing. he rises slowly like he is being reborn and everyone dances around him and he leaps from the tractor. there may also be ribbon dancing over the tractor. everyone at the party is wearing full body spandex gabriel suits, including his face. he is wearing a sequins that are glued to him. when brushed on way they are petals and when brushed the other way they are lizard pattern. they can expand around his face like a lizard when excited. the party continues the next day at school. all the gabriel suit people start dancing and snapping like west side story but to the prince ali song from alaadin. then gabriel arrives on the hood of the tractor being driven by his classmate who dresses like a knight every day at school and wearing arabella in a snuggly. she is also sequinned. at the right time he raieses her up like in the lion king and all the gabrielites turn into the animals in that scene. meanwhile mary in the crowd starts ariel's "ahh ahh ahh...." song and gabriel unzips his sequin outfit to unfurl octipus tentacles, yells "eric! get away from her!" and scrambles to her on his arms and swoops her up to the tractor. the teachers have also begun to dance. suddenly it all just stops and everyone just goes on like normal. but it can all start again as soon as someone starts snapping and doing the "do diddah do diddah do do do do" at the start of the prince ali song.
