catch up dudes!

hihihi. what is going on.  what is going down.  what is happening??  i've been silent for a week and i have no real reason.  let's not focus on the past.  let's celebrate that i'm here now.  "be here now, no other place to be...."--mason jennings

i have been consumed with taking christmas head shots all this week.  well tuesday was the big day but i did early ones on tuesday and i have done a handful of late ones today.  altogether i think i shot 76ish people.  my 'studio' is in the stairwell.  people were a little suspicious when i shepherded them towards the exit door.  when they stepped into the stairwell they found my pastel green wrapping paper with white polka dots taped to the wall behind them.  "please put your left foot on the green tape on the floor" i would say, while climbing two steps up to my photo taking perch.  it was fun.  it's nice to give people individual attention.  each person only took a few moments but still--there were some people that one on one i coaxed tiny smiles and smirks from people that don't respond that way in group photos.  i got some real gems that i love.

last friday was our ward's clean the temple day and i had signed up.  brother roeder asked me to drive a lady that i hadn't met before.  she is filipino and cute.  quite a chatterbox.  she has lived in a few places in the middle east.  i found out lots of interesting things about going to the church in the middle east.  the session was nice and afterwards i quickly changed into my cleaning whites.  i think they make those with men's bodies in mind.  my pants were so loose on the leg and super tight in the hips.  and the shirt was also loose everywhere but the hips.  free the hips!  my job was to clean the women's change room washroom.  i ran into maria elena in there and i was surprised that she remembered my name.  she thought i moved to europe because she saw pics of me and barb on facebook.  she asked all about barb.

we got out of the temple around 10 and stopped at mcdonald's on the way home.  they gypped us on one of our fries but whatever.  chatty girl, mariel, kept me entertained all the way home.  at her job they provide breakfast lunch and dinner!  wuuuut.

the next day was the first meeting of the club.  it was also tatiana's baby shower.  i wasn't going to go to the shower because i didn't have a gift and i didn't think it would matter much but mom really guilted me into it.  so then i was like, i have to make something.... and so i did.  with no planning or thinking.  i just started making and it became what it became.  and what it became was a weird creepy allien looking face made out of denim kind of pillow/stuffy.  thanks to my sewing machine and scraps of fabrics and clothes i keep and my graveyard of pillows alien face came to be in around 2 hours.  but when it made me late.  i got there about an hour after it began.  it was in langley at the little chapel.  the room was full to the brim with ladies  i snuck in and passed alien face to mary and whispered for her to sneak it into the gift pile without being seen.  however the time came when the bags started to disappear and there was my alien pillah face down on the table in her shame.  tatiana felt around on the table without looking and her hand landed on the aliena.  she picked it up and that's when her eyes saw what her hand had been feeling.  she looked around the room questioningly.  i was sitting behind mom and del and i kind of gave a laugh and a sheepish wave.  "it's from me..."  there was no answering the question as to what it was.  it just is what it is.

the shower had some yummy food.  including raw brownies that were super chocolatey.  mom and i left after the gift opening and after mom tricked me and went and fumfered in the washroom for a while and i went back and sat with del while i was waiting.

we went back to mom and dad's to pick up dad and martha's tv stand.  i beat mom.  for some strange reason she thought that she would beat ME.  once we had the table and dad ensconced in mehabub sahib we were on our way to the 'wack.  dad predictably wanted to stay in the car.  martha was very excited to get her tv stand and nothing could stop her from installing it directly to it's spot in her room.

the club's task at katie's was to work on her garage.  pretty quickly into the session we narrowed in on organizing her food storage and specifically her canning.  i was really impressed and wowed by just how extensive her home canning collection was.  she has ground beef, pork, chicken--lots of chicken, turkey broth, beef broth, pork broth, vegetable broth, chicken broth, peaches, pears, plums, dried peaches, dried apples, homemade salsa, relieesh, tomatoes, holy moly, as amy likes to say.  besides that, there was maybe 12 cases of diced tomatoes.  we all agreed that when disaster hits we are going to katie's.

katie's garage is packed chocablock full of stuff.  not to mention dad's old broken canoe and canoe back thingy. we were squeezing by that to get to the area we made into the food storage area.  also big long plywood sheets that we had to move around and boxes and piles of camping stuff and brent's stuff from work and dad's tools...it's one huuuge job and i'm sure the club will have a chance to work on it again  we only worked for around 3 hours but i think we got a lot done.  it was very satisfying.  we got donairs.  dad didn't like his.  he said it wasn't as good as thai food.  haha.  i got him a donair platter because i thought it would be easier to eat but maybe it was less tasty.

katie and martha went to a chief's hockey game.  they are cheif's fans.  mom and dad and i moseyed around a bit before leaving.  katie is going to michealah's for christmas so mom and dad and i and martha decided to have christmas together.

now you're caught up dude.
