qwickie to edmonchuckie part 1
well i went to bed around 8:30 last night and got up at 6am. i guess i caught up on some sleep. heather and i did a quickie trip to edmonton to visit karey this weekend and i had a couple very early mornings...
thursday i had a lot of cleaning i had to do and my fun loving self does not like doing chores. so my creative self was like, "how can i make a game out of this?". haha, 45 and still needs games to do her chores. u do what works ok. so i wrote a numbered list of all i wanted done and then i found a random number generator and had it go to 3 numbers higher. if the generator spit out a number that was the chore i had to do. if it spit out an empty number, i got to do something fun, whatever i wanted, for 10 minutes. it worked pretty well. just as i was winding up my last chore it was time to pick heather up at the sky train.
she needed a slurpee and offered to buy me one and i was not going to say no. so seven 11 has paper straws now. they bite the big one. they fall apart before you are even one 3rd done. i get the straw revolution but come up with some better solutions. paper straws is not it.
i had a bad sleep. tossing and turning and carpel tunnel sleepy hands at every turn.
i got up at 4:45 but not before heather inch wormed passed me to get to the bathroom before i got up. then i had a shower, packed and we left around 5:45am and drove to abBUTSford airport. google maps always sends me there on 16th ave route, which is fine but it's a single lane road and sometimes you get stuck behind a slow truck and this was one of those times. but nevertheless we made it to the airport in plenty of time, parked the car and walked to the terminal. heather was flabbergasted at hw many cars were there.
we showed our giant boarding passes, which i had printed out. they were the full size of a 8 by 11 sheet of paper and they really hit my funny bone. i had security issues because first my tooth paste. the girl let me know that if it was full she would have confiscated it. i think she just wanted to squeeze it, because she did. a lot. then the cpap. apparently now you have to remove your cpap machine just like your laptop. so then it and my bag had to go through again...but finally we were through. "ok, now i'm hungry" i said to heather. she agreed. "too bad we are through security and can't get something at that breakfast shop." i said. heather said "well there's another one right there" but i registered that as heather said nothing. we went and sat by our gate, gate 4, and i plugged in and started editing my last 4 photos for kimme's photo shoot and at one point looked over and saw the other food place and was all "oh there's one over there too!" heather gave me a deadpan look "i told you that." she said. i was all hu? lol. ahhh early morning fogs. so anywho heather got us some croissants with ham and scrambled eggs and cheese.
nobody was crowding around gate 4. they were all around gate 2 and so i looked up at the tv and sure enough our gate had changed to gate 2. but we stayed where we were.
when we boarded we went in the back of the plane. i had a window seat. 27a, the same seat i had the 2 other times i flew swoop. h was in the middle. beside her was the only other lady who was waiting with us at gate 4. heather and her became fast friends. i spent most of the hour and a half trip pressing my face against the glass of the window trying to see all i could see. which is hard when you have a tall torso because those windows are quite low, so you have to hunch down and contort yourself.
karey and katie were waiting for us in arrivals. katie was her uber cute bouncing on the hip self. karey took us straight to michaels. we chatted and walked the aisles looking for something for karey to use her birthday coupon on.
then we went to karey's place. we lounged, me and karey on the deeeeeeep leather couch and heather on the ikea lounger chair. we talked and played with katie and talked some more and played with katie some more. then we walked to whyte ave to get burgers and shakes at 5 guys which was super yummy. i got a malted shake with salted caramel. yes. yes i did.
after walking back karey put katie down for a sleep and we decided to sit on the stoop and talk. that was fun. we enjoyed watching people try to parallel park and had lots more talks. my bum, which is flat to start with got even flatter. periodically one of us would get up, go in, listen for katie and grab some whine gums and share them with the others. when i started to get windy and stormy looking we went inside.
karey made us her gramma's zucchini dish that was kind of similar's to mom's so i said it should be called zucchini delight. she added some chicken to it. it was pretty delish. we were back lounging on the couch when vicki arrived from calgary. she joined in the lounging and talking. there was some talk of her getting a corn dog from the seven 11 but instead we munched on her chips and candies from the car.
that night heather slept on an air mattress downstairs and i slept in the spare room/sewing room and vicki slept with karey.
