thursdee shopping day
on thursday kyle had to go into town to do things that needed to be done. sarah and i were left to get sassy. and by sassy i mean that 2nd day hair is so much better than day 1 hair and that sarah did my make up.
we had this plan to leave adriel and the hux at the bike park and do a little lookiloo shopping at the cute little artsy shops where huxley, through sarah, bought my earrings at christmas. but we may have taken too much time getting sassy and adriel may have rode his, meaning sarah's, bike ahead and may have gotten a flat tire and we had to drop arlo off at his babysitter's and pick up something at the grocery store...
so long story short we hung out with them at the bike park. we basically watched the hux ride the hills and swoops. he was and is so cute. then i got this idea for a photo and made adriel run and leap from swoop to swoop over and over and over and over and over. then a spider was crawling up my leg and i was done after screaming and flinging it far from my person with an adrenaline powered hand brush away from my body.
on the way back to the car huxley and i picked blackberries. i would pick one and give it to him and ask him to tell me if it was juicy juicy or just merely juicy. we understood each other.
our new plan was to drop adriel and the hux off at don's. don's is what adriel and his friends call mcdonald's and that's where the sooke 13 year old crowd like to hang out. and there was the play area for the hux. so we dropped them off and went and explored the shops. we found many things which please us greatly. i found a present for heather's birthday and we found a lot of tempting jewelry, mainly earrings. i almost bought a rad pair of white rattan earrings but aborted mission when i found out they were 40.00 not 24.00.. however, we were in a store that i found a bit boring, very straight laced in its layout, very tight bun that pulls your eyes back, knotted tightly and small..that kind of store--it may be nice, but it's boring to me...well we were just leaving when sarah's eagle eye landed on a dress on a rack by the door that said 25 and under. it turned out to be the cutest navy lacy poof bummed dress ever and she bought it. our joke while shopping was "kyle i need this for the camp". we did buy some fire starter cupcakes 6 for 4 dollars, which turned out to be wunnerful, so yeah.
suddenly we were out of time and had to pick up the boys and drop off the car and catch the bus, and i needed my other shoes and all was a flurry. sarah dropped me off at the bus stop, almost in the ditch, (i had to edge myself along the car not to fall in and step over blackberry brambles), and drove the boys home, took the bikes out of my car, grabbed my shoes and made it back to the bus stop in time. in typical sooke fashion there was a chair at the bus stop that someone just put there and chained down. suddenly a car honked at us very loudly and very near us, startling the bleeps out of us. we periodically pondered on why this happened and what was the purpose. no clear answer was found. "maybe he liked your crap carver." i said, alluding to a time when i was with sarah and a guy in a car yelled that out to her. well actually he said something a bit ruder, but we've since made it more pg. "that only ever happens to me when i'm with you." said sarah. meanwhile a guy wearing headphones walked passed us and way way down the sidewalk and stopped. we both noted how he couldn't stand far enough away from us while waiting for the bus. the double decker sooke bus was late. that just meant it didn't wait as long in 'down town sooke'. we boarded and did not go up top for such reasons as: a) you risk your life coming down the stairs to get off at your stop, and b) the sooke road makes sarah woozy when she's up top. i did like the view up there though, that time i rode it with evan and kyle last summer.
we had good convos. we saw the girl adriel has a crush on and she said sarah looked so pretty while demurely hiding her mouth behind her hand. we got off at uptown and had some time to do some more shopping before kyle arrived with douglas and tats. i've just given her that name. tatiana will now be known as tats.
but first we were so hungry and we needed a snack. we looked around and were pleased to find 6 mini tacos for cheap so we split them. we got barbacoa x2, pulled pork x2 and 1 chicken and 1 potato. we decided after that the barbacoa and pulled pork tied for first and the chicken came in last. you know what that means for the potato don't you. DON'T YOU?? yes well it was in 2nd place, obviously. we also got 2 cupcakes. i asked sarah to surprise me and she did by buying the only one i had commented on when i was in the store--a caramel chocolate one. she got a coconutty one and we halfed each of them. both were good but the coconutty one was the winner.
we looked in h&m, and forever 21 and tried on many sunglasses, very irked by the multitudes of things the store hand hanging from them. basically sarah looked good in almost every pair. and i was left to kick against the pricks.
my feet were sore. story of my life. i sat down and sarah ran in to dynamite to check it and then kyle pulled up with a honkity honk and we jumped in. i had just been trying to do a birthday greeting to katie who's blessed day of birth was that very day and my phone had jumped from something like 21 percent to 4 percent. inside the van a charger with an uber short length was found and i was plugged in and slowly began charging. we talked about where to eat. kyle had had bao for lunch which wasn't fair and foo for his birthday dinner which was doubly not fair since he always shoots it down. you know you do kyle. then suddenly you want it for your birthday?? fishy pal. real fishy. anyways we narrowed down our choices to perogies or korean. the majority chose korean so we went to sura. we have a sura and aberdeen and i alway meant to go but have been foiled 3 or 4 times. this time we did it. we ordered a meal for 5. they set up a bbq at our table and cooked us meats and brought us offerings of pickles, and foods and i, in grabbing myself some tempura vegetable sprayed the sauce all over my cat blouse. that cat blouse is a magnet for asian sauces in victoria. it also was the recipient of a dark stream of hoisen sauce after my first bite of a bao. anyways we ate well.
then we drove to rhiannon's soon to be apartment and checked it out as a large group in an awkward situation, with the landlady who clearly wasn't expecting 5 people to show up and with us not knowing the current tenants would be there. no one took off their shoes but me. i get a gold star. i just want to say that. i just want everyone on the wold wide webs to know about my gold star worthiness.
naturally we had bingsu which is the korean style shaved ice. i got mango and unashamedly got a large to have to myself. sarah got strawberry with a side of cheesecake, being very true to her nature. kyle got a plum bingsu. just kidding, douglas and tats shared. kyle didn't want to share. sarah said it was normal to share a small. i said it was normal to have a large to yourself. everyone's DIFF'RENT. the glorious part of a shaved ice is the melty underbelly. if you know shaved ice you know what i'm saying. and if you don't know shaved ice, repent.
speaking of repent, i told everyone about my school mates who were a brother and sister named 'repent of your sins' and 'repent or burn forever', who mr. lynn our math teacher shortened to 'repent' and \sins' respectively. they were quite taken by this. we had been talking about douglas and tat's baby's name and i don't know how repent and sins came up but they did. they were in fatima's very interesting elementary school.
despite and lonely large being normal, i was very full by the end. we wanted to play more games when we got home but douglas and tats went to bed straight way and sarah had final preps and i may have dozed off and on face down in front of the washer and dryer waiting for my wash to finish. sarah found me there. "oh you're here." she said. i was the final person to go to bed after draping my tshirts all over the loft to dry.
