the alarm went off at 6am and after a 5 minute snooze i looked at sarah and said "why did you ruin my life?" and she looked back at me and said "why are you ruining MY life??" then i shrugged and we both got up and got ready.  we left earlier than we had planned and arrived earlier than we had planned and still it was a possible ferry wait.  the lady at the booth told us we may be waiting for the 10:15.  it was around 7am.  at that news sarah gave a snarly face from the passenger side, at which the lady in the booth said a forced cheery "it IS always a good idea to get a reservation!" sing song.  we grumbled about as we pulled into our assigned lane and mimicked her words in an angry baby voice.  "the whole reservation system is a scam!" i declared, "yeah! " agreed a fired up sawsaw, "it's so stupid. here, i'll give you MORE money!", "and we would have had to get here at the same time!" ...grumble...grumble... we had no hopes in our hearts that we would make it.  like it seemed like everyone was boarded and nothing was moving anymore and we were just settling ourselves down for a long winter's night when wonder of wonders miracles of miracles god took a tailor by the hand, wonder of wonders miracle of miracles, brought him to the promised land!...we got on.  by the skin of our teeth.

on the ferry the miracles DID NOT END.  we were sitting in our seats minding our own, my electricals charging, when the captain's voice came on announcing a pod of orcas on the right hand side of the boat.  well we, like most everyone, up and fairly flew to the right side just in time to see an orca breach and jump right out of the water!  then we watched a long line of dorsals slicing through the water.  wowed, awed, and down right giddy with the sighting, we went back to our seats. not long after the captain came over the pa system again announcing a humpback and her calf once again on the right hand side.  we ran over again.  at first we didn't see anything but then far off in the back we saw her blow .

then i et jonas selkirk.

actually i ate some sausages and potatoes and a banana.

before too long we were back in the car waiting our turn to be let off the ferry.  we drove to kimme's and called her from outside of her house.  she told us to come in.  liza was there too.  they were in a flurry of preparation for the day and kids n things.  kimme ran off to buy shoes and i, unhappy with my day 3 of lake hair frizz, asked if i could have a shower.  actually sarah asked for me.  so i had one.  and chris entertained sarah.

after my shower we left and went to ann's who had been taking care of huxley and sloan. spent some time out on her back patio on pat's patio furniture.  pat is a lady currently staying with ann who did not introduce herself to me,but just nodded sagely when i said "i'm laura by the way" and was like yeah i know, duh.  then proceeded to tell me about her housing situation which she assumed i already knew about...meanwhile ann gave us a chocolate treat.

sarah and i and hux went to piper's to check it out.  that's where my shoot with kimme and family was going to be later that evening.  hux enjoyed jumping the many logs and climbing the rocks.  i found many a sweet spot to take the photos.  then sarah and hux left.  i had my scripture study, said a prayer, snoozed, looked around more and was chased out of my sahib 3 times by a wasp.

i met chris and kimme and family and we began. i received what seemed like 3 phones, 2 sets of keys and a water bottle all to tuck into my camera bag, and chris' sunnies which i rested on my head.  actually this was the most harmonious shoot i've had with these guys. time flew by, they were all gorgeous and handsome and visually interesting as usual.  before long the sun was setting and we were done.  there were a lot of photographer's around.  of particular interest were an almost nude couple in the lagoon behind us getting their photos done.  i'm going to have to photoshop them out of some shots.  i almost left with chris' sunnies on my head but felt them on the walk back to the car.  i was dying of thirst so i stopped to fill up my water bottles and caught them walking back and gave kimme the sunnies.

then i stopped at the rutherford mcdonald's  and drove to sooke.

monday complete.
