fly carnage

it was more like 15 flies.  last night i was going to bed and i was like no, these flies have to be dealt with.  they were swarming all over the screen on the living room window.  so verily i did fetch a cloth napkin and verily i did whip it with great vengeance on the the fly swarm and verily only 3 flies did survive.  plus one in my bedroom.  verily there time cometh.

yesterday we made turkey club croissants.  one must say this with a heavy accent on the 'croissant'.  after lunch we had a social planning meeting and planned september's activities.  i'm doing a fall fair party on our 2 year anniversary. oh, also we got letters yesterday telling us that we have raises retro active to april.  this basically covers our ltd increase, but still it's nice.  actually at first my letter gave me a pay cut.  like the amount was less than the amount i get.  i laughingly asked dave if i was getting a cut to fund everyone else's raise. haha.  he gave me a new letter. last night people were going out for drinks and then karaoke with natasja, our danish anthropology phd student who's time with us just ended.  i was going to go for a bit but i agreed to feed and pill the roeder's aging cat while they are gone and they were having me over for an early dinner to show me the ropes.

first i rested my eyes for 10 minutes at home.

the roeder's home was deliciously cool. they have ac.  brother roeder said they had a heat pump which can be reversed into pushing all the hot air out. this is something that i covet.  we had yummy burgers with blue cheese and bacon and mushrooms, and a kale salad and corn on the cob.  and i had a brownie with ice cream on it with chocolate sauce.  i did a practice run with their cat.  i popped a kibble in his mouth and it wasn't very hard.  way easier than with archie.

i went to the church early and filled out my receipts paper work.  one of my receipts that i've been saving was completely worn off the paper.  all you could see was part of pricesmart and that it was for 13 something.  i counted that one as a loss.  i also filled out our whiteboard calendar for september.  yumi is away in japan and so is aoy, so it was just cassie and winnie. we did jewelry making. well they did, i spent the time unknotting some floss that i was thinking of making a friendship bracelet with.  tracy came and brought the girls butter beer which they were both super excited about. leilani made a button bracelet.  leilani is getting a different calling and i'll lose her soon.  i'll really miss her.  the girls drew weird and disturbing mickey mouse shapes on the board.  one looked like mickey with a puffed up allergy head.  all his features were squished.  i can't describe it.  i can only say i was disturbed.

when i got home i spent a few minutes in the car saying words to sarah on the phone about our upcoming pachena bay camp while watching judy drag the hose all over the front and back yards doing dave's watering and the front lady's watering.  judy is a plant lover.

then i went inside and delivered death to the flies, leaving 3 alive to tell their tale.  i was in bed by 9:30. maybe before.  who's to say.
