found a peanut

let today be known as the first morning i had to turn on a lamp.  august is when i first start to notice the days begin to get shorter. 

last night i saw that the moon was half a pie. 

when i was leaving to walk to the roeders to feed jett, izzy was insistant to have some outdoor time.  and it was not one of her short bursts.  so i had to gate the stairs and prop the door open.  when i got home she welcomed me with a nagging kind of meow at the screen door.  and all the surviving flies appear to be gone.  so that's good.

jett was ravenous for chicken.  and that is all my cat updates.

yesterday i created the most beautiful summer salad.  i used the bounty of little ruby cherry tomatoes from our garden, cucumber, some corn that i lightly sauted, red onion, and a medley of herbs from our garden: basil, mint and thyme.  we also had some cilantro.  the dressing was merely olive oil, lime juice and zest, rice vinegar, salt and pepper and a little drizzle of balsamic reduction.  the cherry tomatoes were soooo sweet. august is tomato harvest time.  that's the best.  that's why katie is a tomato lover.  she was born in its bounty time.
