this morning i saw this treasure: it was early, somewhere between 5:30 and 6--maybe it was 5:38 or 5:45, it doesn't matter ok.  i rolled myself out of bed and took my phone to see if there was anything of the early morning that i wanted to document.  and i caught a glimpse of a bird sitting on the crook in the drain pipe.  the drain pipe is right outside my window.  i often hear the sound of their little bird feet on the metal of the drain pipe, but i never saw it before.  but in a blink the bird was gone.  i turned away ruing that i didn't get a pic of that, said my morning prayers and then turned back to the window.  the bird was there again and this time she disappeared into a tiny hole in the roof above the drain pipe and poked her head down through the hole peering at me.  so that's where the nest is!  i knew it was up there somewhere but i thought it was above, on the ledge.  but then i thought her babies would be vulnerable to the crow posse that is always patrolling the area, sitting on the posts of the fence and cawing at everyone.  but she smarter than that.

it's a blue sky morning and the trees outside my window and neon and golden with the eastern rays lighting them up from the side.  i have been trying to create a habit of early to bed early to rise. i think the summer is the best time to rise early.  the world is so beautiful on summer mornings.

How neat to have a little family so close and to think you may have missed it if you didn't get up so early. I'm trying to do the same. We never know how many good things and what special blessings we are actually forgoing when we procrastinate following good council.
