izzy is really feisty this morning.  after a good bum licking she's been darting around pel mel then jumping up on perches, looking around wildly and jumping down.

this morning i woke up to the sound of rain.  i thought at first my neighbour was having a shower. "no that's rain" i told my sleepy self as i drifted back off to an early morning light sleep.  the kind of sleep where you drift in and out of consciousness for a while before finally succumbing to wakefulness.

yesterday was quite the day.  it was only jimmy and i at  work because janine doesn't work wednesdays and nuria was doing the social.  i had to leave at 12--which is our busiest time obviously.  i tried to get everything set up to run smoothly.  (apparently after i left the dishwasher broke down.  ugh.  i hate it when the dishwasher goes.) anyways i hit the road heading for chilliwack to do natalie's prom pics.

i got a ticket.  i was not following my best speeding practices.  if i speed, or i should say, when i speed i like to follow a 'rabbit' or a faster car, a protection car if you will.  but yesterday i was not.  and i kind of saw police on the other side of the road and i thought you better slow down, and i started to, but not in enough time.  i got pulled over for going 108 in an 80 zone.  80 is the dumbest speed limit for highway 17 but i'm dumber for getting caught.  the cop and i were very civil to one another.  he told me to have a nice day as he passed me my ticket for 138 and my licence.  i think it's an odd thing to say at that time, but i gave him an automatic "you too..."  fading out as i thought how weird that polite exchange was.  canadians.

natalie went to prom with her best friend mallory.  they both had green gowns, natalie's dark and mallory's light.  mary was there to do natalie's make up and sarah had done her hair.  we went to the japanese garden park that we had picked out for their family pictures once--but that's when my camera died.  it was a very green and shaded spot, and they were very green and everything was green.  mallory towers over natalie and i got her to do things like pick up natalie and swing her around haha.  there was goose poo everywhere.  take note.  sarah and mary came and they did silly things in the background like weight lifting the girl's purses and then doing other weird moves with them--like mary had a leg extended behind her and sarah hung purses on it... etc.  that's also where we established our kung fu grunting moves to be done in unison.  anyways we had fun and i hopefully got a lot of pretty and fun shots of the girls.

katie had a plan for some sister time.  she dropped natalie off at the school and sarah and martha and i visited.  doug and delanie came by to pick up mary.  at one point doug said  a real fatherly compliment to gabriel which was " even when your hair looks really dumb, it looks better than mine"  .

we went out for thai food.  brent warned us that we were going to get 'caught' in a thunder storm. i looked forward to it.  i had pad thai and sarah and katie shared a pad thai and a green curry both at the 3 chilies level.  "i could do one higher," said katie, "yeah, i'm not at my threshold.." agreed sarah..  martha got a swimming ramma and that's that.  on our way out it WAS thunderstorming which was a little bit thrilling.

we decided to go to dairy queen on the way back.  sarah and i each got a rece's blizzard with a peanut butter core, which meant there were pools of melty peanut butter draping itself seductively over our blizzards, which was heaven.  katie got the the berry cheesecake and martha got a dipped cone, which was 5 dollars. wuuut.  seems not right.  we had a nice time chatting and when we got to the house katie and martha didn't leave for a while because we were still having a nice time chatting, but eventually all good things come to an end and we said good bye.

sarah and i drove to abbuttsford and visited dad in the hospital.  he's in a hallway as are a number of other elderly patients.  one lady by dad kept asking to go on a walk.  dad was in good spirits.  he kept telling me to thing about being a nurse because i would be so helpful.  "because i'm strong?" i said  "yeah, and smart." said dad.  "well i am both of those things, it's true" i laughed.  sarah and i had tried to help him shift up on the bed because his feet were hanging over the edge and we only succeeded in causing him great groaning pain to his ribs.  an emt walked by and saw us and expertly shifted dad using the bed and gravity in a very efficient manner.  at one point when sarah and i were attempting i was putting my hand under his back and he winced heavily.  "does that hurt?" i asked.  he stopped to give me a very sassy glare "is the pope catholic?" he responded very dad like.   another time we were gathered around him talking and he suddenly said out of the blue "i have not been eating very much, and i would like you to go and get some chinese food and bring it to me, RIGHT. NOW."  which made us laugh.  sarah said dad's cravings for chinese food had no end. right. now.  when we had to go, dad still called down the hall for me to think about his suggestion for me to be a nurse.

on the way home sarah and i were discussing energy type stuff and i missed my exit to hwy 17 and we had to got the long way through new west.  sarah slept over and is taking the bus to the ferry today.  i have to take the bus to work today because they are pressure washing the parking lot, so i better get a move on.  byeeeeee.
