then my family did good things to me

directly after leaving the vet's i dropped heather back off at shopper's and i headed to langley to catch the uncle duncle christmas lunch at the olive garden.  i was going to skip it but katie talked me into it.  i cried much of the way there.  i kept getting flash backs of limp archie, a soft bundle of orange fur in my arms.

i was late but katie ordered my food for me.  i got the chicken gnocchi soup and it was full of big chunks of chicken.  but i'm getting ahead of myself. when i arrived i was pointed to  a seat beside tracy and across from katie.  there was a present with a beautiful peacock ribbon bow waiting for me.  "should i open this now?" i asked katie. she nodded.  i untied the ribbon and tore the paper off.  inside was a box with a pink instapix camera in it.  "oh this is interesting," i thought, "i guess i could have fun with this..."  i was looking at it and katie pointed to a brown envelope that came out of the box when i took the instapix camera out.  "look, laura," she said, "we all pitched in for you to get a new camera"  on the brown envelope was a list of names from mom and dad, andrea, doug, john, layne, katie, jordan, evan, sarah, bethan, amy and karey too.  i couldn't believe it.  when i realized my camera was not working anymore i decided not to stress about it.  i thought i'll save money and buy it some time after christmas.  i thought if it's important it will work out. heavenly father always helps me out in my times of need.  this time, as in many times before he helped me through my family.  i'm so blessed to be a part of this crazy annoying loving tribe of people.  i've always known it and i know it again.

i went home and spent all afternoon researching different cameras.  by 8:30 i had a fried brain but i decided on a pentax k70. i stayed pentax because i already have all pentax lenses and starting over with new lenses would be too super duper expensive.  so then brent ordered it on amazon prime and..and...and....by 9 the next night, SUNDAY...it was waiting on my door step!  a new camera!  a new best friend!  pendergast the pentax! ( i just made that up right now).  i began opening the box but i stopped overwhelmed with thankfulness and said a little prayer first.  i hope i can always do good and use what gift i have to worship God and bless the people i come across. i charged it up and read the start up booklet.  the manual was en francais though.  i had to wait until monday to buy a memory card and try it out.

monday morning i read my scriptures and got ready and had some starbucks breakfast sammies and went to best buy and bought a memory card!  these are the first pics i took.  i took them in my car in the best buy parking lot.  i also took a short video but i don't know how to share that yet.  pendergast has a screen that swivels out and can face you when taking selfies..so that's cool.  he also has some helps for astrophotography.  if you don't know what that is  it's about the STARS.

these are the faces of a woman with a new best friend--pendergast the pentax.

It was amazing how fast pentergast came to you. You always DO do good and bless the lives of the people you come across! That’s why it was easy to collect enough money to buy you another camera. I hope pentergast can help you to remember how loved you are by so many.
