day at sea

ok well my computer has died a sad sad death.  it's a rainy monday and i've stayed late at work after finding out my car is unfit for the roads and worth it to fix.  i just want to use the computer, you know?  hopefully tomorrow evan and i will have a successful, remove-wanted-items-from-the-hard-drive-session and i will get my other trip pics and sundry.  sundry is my current modus operandi word.  i used it on a number of fatima's and daman's boxes on the weekend.  they moved into their new home on the 33rd floor which is really the 29th floor because there is no floor with 4 in it, and no 13th floor.  i think this is taking supersticians to the extreme.  come on.  just because it says 5th floor doesn't mean it isn't actually the 4th floor!  it is what it is.

because i can't surf the world wide web, blog, edit photos or watch tv on my computer, what i do at home is read.  and text with my phone.  but my phone is acting super weird too, so it's unreliable.  what i don't do is clean.  jag har ingen lust, as they say in sweden.  judge if you must.  judging doesn't get the dishes washed.  lisa gave me a set of shelves that don't fit in her house anymore because of the fab new couch and love seat she has recently purchased.  i put it in my kitchen and my cookbooks are quite happy with their new home but they only take up one shelf.  oh the luxery of unused shelves!  there are just so many options!

ehnehwayz, i have some pics here from day 2 of the cruise.  a day entitled 'a day at sea'.
i don't remember a lot about the day at sea.  i mean it was a day and we were at sea.

sarah and kyle went for their only run of the cruise in the morning, and i wrote a blog post up in my pulman bed.  this we know.  i know that kyle was super pumped about going to the shopping show, so we all ventured to the amber palace to check it out.  the shopping show was manned by an asian looking guy with a south african accent, named jay.  jay proceeded to tell us all about this expensive jewelry you can buy in cozumel.  sometimes he would throw stuff out into the audience.  one time, kyle batted down a rum cake from mid air but some other people stole it, not that we were sad about that, i mean it was rum cake, after all.  during the show sarah had the alarming realization that she left her sunnies in the gym.  she went to look for them and came back angry and sad.  they weren't there.  no matter how many times we checked at the gym and guest services they were not there.  kyle felt less sad about it because he had plans to replace them with the costa del sol sunglasses that jay told us about in the shopping show.  they were lifetime guarenteed even if you lose them or step on them or whatever.  aaaaand they change colour in the sun!  wuuuut.  so jay kept saying annoying things like "the tanzanite is physically in the store."  basically the more he used physically inappropriately the more i despised his show.  it was sapping my energies.  fatima has a lot of energies but that is besides the point.  so that was the show.

at lunch time we made the joyous discovery of the taco/burrito joint called the blue iguana.  i got a burrito with chicken AND shrimp, and a taco with yummy pork.  then there was the AHmazin' salsa bar with delicious salsas of all types, including a watermelon one, which i partook of.  but mostly i had a lot of pico de gallo, which i love love love for it's freshness and for it's cilantro.  if cilantro was a man, i'd be his anything.  this is the love i have for cilantro.

well so what else did we do?  we did some pool time.  the pools on the ship are salt water and this particular pool was super salty.  it burned our eyes.  to me, a lover of oceanic swimming, this was not so much a big deal.  as katie and i discovered as young adolecents, ocean water makes your eye colour more vibrant.  but sarah and kyle although, a fun couple, are pansies when it comes to salted waters of the concentrated variety.  no judgements here.  i took some clicks with my crappy underwater camera.

i love this pic and what i love about it is the horrifying beastly paw that kyle is floating towards me in a menacing manner.

that's sarah.  i like the way the light is half illuminating her in the depths of aqua blue.
we are underwater bullies and we'll get you.
i think doug would be offended by kyle here as well.
after our pool time antics we decided to retire to our cabin and pretty up for our first elegant dining night.  my hair was beach afro, so sarah did some flat iron curls for me.  i didn't end up digging my new maxi dress that much but i did dig my hair.  sarah spent about an hour trying to apply her fake lashes, which she purchased especially for this very occassion.  however, it was not to be.  while sarah was experiencing this extreme frustration, kyle slumbered and i busied myself in taking selfies.

finally she gave up and went without the lashes.  funny thing is, she was totally stunning that night.  totally.  i wish i had a good pic of it, but i don't.  her long and softly clinging bird of blue dress, her flashes of red  and her orangy red feather earrings and lips, all came together to make her totally hawt.  like seriously.  hawt.  i felt a bit dowdy in comparison but i tried not to think about it.

here's a pic i snapped with sarah's phone.
note kyle's special knot above.

this time in the golden dining room, we were seated in oksana and edgardo's area.  oksana is from the ukraine.  she has a long long long dark ponytail that she ties in sections down her back.  edgardo was a more reserved philipino man with a square jaw.  later we discovered a twinkle in his eye, but not this night. oksana's area overlooked eduardo and arnold's station and kyle looked longingly towards them, feeling like a traitor.

thanks to the documentation with sarah's phone we know what we had that night.
kyle chose shark crusties.

i chose strawberry soup.  so light and creamy, cool and delicious.
sarah had yumzors mushroom caps with a surprising red sauce.
we all got the lobster and prawns, because, come on!
sarah's dessert was weiwd.

kyle and i each chose cherries jubilee.  i thought it was going to be lit on fire but it wasn't, so i was a bit disappointed.

sarah and kyle are always good for a table couple pose.  no one could get a flattering shot of me, so i took one myself.

back in our room we found love from neil in the shape of this elephant.

after dinner, we stopped to get sarah and kyle's pics taken.  there were photographers all over with different backgrounds taking super cheesy pics.  kyle and i had watched this particular photographer who was the cheesiest ever.  the poses he put people in were hilar. we were watching before dinner and after dinner sarah and i talked kyle into getting their pics done.  the only photographer available was the cheesiest.  man oh man, the poses he put them in.  i was laughing my head off, watching them, and they were laughing too.  i really wish that they got those photos so you guys could see them.  so hilar.  one pose had sarah posed in a dramatic waltz pose, leg  back, back arched and head back, one finger, inexplicably placed on kyle's dimple...  ahhh the goodness of it all.  the backdrop was of the cruiseship at night under the stars.

that night we tried to watch a comedy show but it was adult and boy was it ever.  we left with burning ears and souls.  then we went and busted a move to the disco music at the white heat dance club.  basically we were the bustingest people on the floor.

we also had late night snacks.  because--chicken foccoccia and pizza and ice cream!  HELLO.

that night we went to bed super excited.  i had the butterflies.  the next day was our first stop--cozumel.

I love hearing you tell it from your perspective. You mention things that I'm already starting to forget which makes me sad. It's already been a month since we left!! Many a hilarity in this post. Like Kyle's paw. That's where my boys get it from!

hehe, I remember loving the animal shapes they put your towels into. all my pictures from the cruise were lost due to a lost/stolen camera. at least sarah did not have THAT woe.

I love the pics!! Kyle's large paw is hilarious, so is the underwater bullies one, and the offensive Kyle one (laughed out loud). The sea DOES make your eyes more vibrant! I observe this in Shawn every time he comes back from a surf! every time!

the food sounds absolutely yummy. over all, this post helps to quell my curiosity, but I still request more! I mean, you DID mention more photos...
