so yesterday i was all inspired to go to ikea and get some more frames for my photos and some art that i don't have frames with.  we have a new and 'improved' ikea now and this was my first time there.  the first thing i saw with surprise was that the old ikea is a pile of rubble and dirt now.  how could they??  the next thing i noticed is that there is A LOT of parking.  i mean it.  outside parking and undercover parking garage.  other than that, everything is the same but only newer.  actually i was disappointed in the selection of frames, to tell you the truth.

i came home and started nailing holes in the wall and hanging stuff.  i didn't get finished but already it feels so much more homier here.  i see certain things as i go about my day and it makes me smile.

in an effort to use yet more mushrooms, i made some pasta with garlic mushrooms.  it's one of karey's favourite things that i used to make way back when we had that deal that i would cook and she would clean.  this time though, i used italian sausage stuffed satchetini.  all you do is cook your pasta and while that is cooking saute your mushrooms in butter and garlic.  i usually do my mushrooms in big chunks if not whole, depending on how big they are.   when the pasta is done, i drain it and toss it with the mushrooms right in the pan.  then i put it all in a bowl and add a splash of balsamic vinegrette and a drizzle or two of asian sesame dressing and a healthy handful of parrrrrm.  then...well then i...i eat it! delish.

i watched a norwegian film last night called buddy.  it had it's endearing moments.  at first it was really hard for me to make out what they were saying without the help of the subtitles but near the end i was getting better.  those norwegians talk fast man.  and some words aren't the same. and i'm rusty.

today was our ward conference and we had a meeting with our stake primary presidency at 8am.  i wasn't exactly looking forward to the meeting, why i don't know.  maybe because i have a completely natural aversion to meetings, or maybe because i was feeling inadequate as a primary president, who knows.  but it was a very nice meeting.  one thing i liked was that they had us say something nice about the person on our right in our presidency and that brought such a nice feeling in the room.  i love my councellors!  in fact there is so much more that i wished that i said.  i also got good advice on how to be a president, that i needed.

then we had a quick choir practice and then a zoomed to mary's house to pick her up for church.  sacrament was good and i didn't flub during our choir piece so that was good.  i really like the alto part for i need thee every hour. i think it's beautiful.

well i did sharing time today and we had to memorize "honour thy father and thy mother that thy days may be long in the land which the Lord thy God hath given thee."  for the younger kids i had all sorts of crazy memory cues all lined up at the front.  it was fun.

i came home and roasted tomatoes but i kind of burnt them a little bit because my oven doesn't have a temp gague and i was guessing.  then i made a tomato goat cheese tart with fresh basil.  puff pastry.  hello. i was bored so i put my hair in multiple braids and wrapped them round my head until no hair was left unbraided.  i was invited to a potluck and i finished my tart just in time.  it was easy but the roasting took a while. mei lin and her family picked me up and we drove out to jimmy's house.  jimmy is a boy in primary and his mom was having the potluck.  they go to the chinese branch.  her name is rita/dora and she super loves mom and dad.  she says they are so cute and nice.  it was a fun night.  at first i wasn't sure how it was going to be, but in the end we had nice chats and lots of laughs.

i'm sleepy.
a tomato carmalized onion tart of yesteryear.  NOT today's tart.  today's tart found here.
it irritates me when she posts irrelevant tarts.  don't waste my time!"
mom beloved of rita/dora would never think of confusing others with tarts that don't belong.  she's too angelic.
pops might do it though.  he's a little mischievous and i think we all know that he enjoys a good tart mix-up as much as the next guy.
"i just really really like a good tomato tart.  it makes me so happy!" enthused evan in a doob voice.
"personally, i'm quite dizgusted" sneered bethany as laura made her feelings known in other ways.  meanwhile elicia tried in vain for just a glimpse of the tart.

hahaha! very amusing pics at the end. The food you've been eating sounds delish. Also I think you should take photos of your home projects!

that does sounds like a wonderful tart, and I'm not exactly sure how I feel about that picture of Evan. It's hard to put a finger on it. Just curious, do you put that much effort into your family potluck contributions?
