well i've moved the couch. i was tired of the tube like quality of the living room being emphasized by the sausage link placement of the furniture. so now the couch is under the window facing the kitchen and the lazy boy is in the middle of the room and there is junk everywhere. sometimes it takes some chaos to get somewhere. and i've found the jane eyre memory stick along the way. it was under either the couch or chair. --see what i mean? progress.
i've got things to tell and you're the people i'm going to tell it to. i'd like to entitle it "my weekend so far". catchy eh.
my weekend so far:
i made halloween prize ribbons. i wish i took a picture of one because they were beautiful. i actually made them on thursday night which isn't the weekend but i didn't go to bed until friday morning so it's getting in on a technicality. they had spiders glued in the centres. not real ones. they were composed of orange fabric and black and orange ribbon. i sewed them by hand because i'm a crazy woman.
after work i got gas. this is important. everybody needs gas. some people have more than others. boys, apparently lisa's sister, sheikhs, albertans....
then i slept in my car on a pull out very near the ferry terminal, for 45 minutes. then i picked up katie and brent.
we went to the temple. i forgot my recommend. brother burgart was the counter guy. sarah burnam's dad checked out my info and let me in. we did initiatories. on my sheet i had what i believed were two sisters, named guidit and madalena bonjour. they were from the same town and were two years apart. they were italian so i pronounced bonjour like bonjourno, instead of the french greeting. i felt like a hick. none of the other ladies followed my lead. but they weren't french! guidit was the younger sister. i told her i was there with my sister too. we had a bond.
we picked jawn up from the airport. jawn flew in from dallas texas to buy one of evan's motorcycles and to drive it all the way back to utah. crazy eh?
we drove to ubc to drop in at evan's birthday party. we got our pics taken with clown noses and fake mustaches and big sunglasses etc. it was cute. ev gave us the low down on his fraternity. as we were leaving some cops were busting some underage drinkers outside. we passed some people who were saying "those mormons--" and stopped as i walked by. i guess i didn't fit in to the college scene in my church clothes. shrug.
we got donairs. deva wasn't there. i wonder if he still works there. i haven't seen him the last 3 times i went. just when you win a food guy over they're gone. well there's always the panago guy. brent got the plate instead of the pita. but he didn't eat it in the care like we did.
we missed the ferry. it was the last one and they turned out the lights just as we got there.
we drove jawn to evan's, surprising the spanish speaking babysitter. we drove back. we searched richmond for an open drug store so katie and brent could get allergy meds, contact solution and tooth brushes. upon entering my house brent fell asleep on the lazy boy with his shoes on and would not be moved.
the alarm went off at 4:40 am. it took katie's nudging me for it to register. brent never ate his food and left it for me. was weirded out by the white sauce. too bad. i think he would have liked it. at 5 we drove to horsehoe bay to catch the 6:30 ferry. we were there by 5:37. katie and i talked until one of the booths were open and brent stretched his legs outside. we parted ways.
i reminded myself to stay awake on the drive home. i did.
i fed the cats and fell asleep until 9thirty.
sewed brooch pins on all 12 ribbons and listened to my saturday mornin' playlist. made toast under the broiler. and then i made my little red riding hood cape and hood. it was fun! i made it out of red satin and i did not a half bad job. i wanted the hood to be oversized and droopy and boy did i ever. it's kind of funny. i didn't have time to hem it before the activity though.
on the way to the church i stopped and bought some prizes at the dollar store.
there were 3 of us red riding hoods. sabrina, a cute, shy little chinese girl giggled when she saw i was 'little' red riding hood too. so we had judges and prizes, played games, had a haunted house, trunk or treated (leilani and i did too. i felt kind of sheepish about it but leilani had no problem. then she wouldn't take any of the candy!) i didn't stay for the chili cook-off.
i bought fake lashes and came home, watched movies, ate brent's yummy meal and moved furniture.
and that's the bare bones. gah! the choir sings tomorrow and the only strong alto is away. i've got to practice my head off before church. oi. so . tired.

was Evan's b-day fun? I always wondered about the fraternity. Did he have to do something crazy to get in?
