milk the nose

got a cold.  just in time for the weekend.  this is the way of my life.  so i've lounged around in bed watching tv programs, playing solitaire, building towers of used puffs-plus-with-lotion, napping, sniffling and feeling sorry for myself.  now i'm wide awake, unmotivated and bored.  it's a bad combo.

i'm not going to think about it.  i'm going to text with fatima about it instead. so far there's no mention of vicks vapo rub but that doesn't mean it won't happen.

so my lips.  i haven't been out in the wind, so that's not it.  in their dehydrated state they are also super sensitive to salty foods.  so i'm trying to avoid the salty foods but it's hard.  cheese is salty. tuna is salty.  what else do i eat?  haha just kidding, that's steve speaking.  but on the legit, it's hard to avoid salt.  salt is everywhere. also you're not supposed to lick your lips.  do you know how hard it is not to lick dry lips?  if it was a pictionary category, it would be difficille.  so i looked up some home remedies.  i made an olive oil essential oil 'balm' of sorts.  i've been applying it a lot but so far i don't notice any result.  it doesn't help that my nose is a drippy faucet of hot liquid disease.  that's a lot of liquid loss that i have to replenish.

i don't mean to complain.  i'm sure there's a positive spin. if only pollyanna were here to let me know.  ach.  i just licked my lips!  tanya told me to brush them with my toothbrush to exfoiliate.  i tried that this morning.  it kind of tickled.

i've used the toothbrush to get rid of my flaky lips before... i liked it. and i always put vaseline on my lips at night...in the morning thye are super soft.... i like it.
and no matter what i do, when i get a cold my nose suffers the most, from all the blowing it always gets so yucky, red, dry, eve "scabby"... i don't like that.

The positive spin is that it can be healthy to avoid salty foods, uh? Or maybe this cold'll force you to get more sleep. Also, your body's fighting an infection so after your cold it'll be stronger.

that's the best I can do. It's hard to find something positive about a cold!

Why do you have to have a home remedy? Doesn't lip balm work? I'd like to add another positive spin to Bethany's- you have an excuse to be lazy, and relax and do nothing but read and watch good movies. Take it while you can. Hope you feel better! Colds bite the big one.

Vicks is a must, Laura. It is a miracle balm if you will. Vitamin E oil would be good for lips. Also, drink lots of water - it will help your lips too.
Salt will dehydrate you like nobody's business. Baaaa-d.
