i rocked it.

friday night was girls night. it was supposed to be a girl's night photo viewing party but the photos stood us up. we had a stiff upper lip and carried on--made the best of a bad situation and the like. mr. daman drove us to our hotel. then he went to pick up m-ji from a dark cold coner. mr. daman is good to us.

our room was about 30 bucks each which is a pretty good deal. there were two queen size beds side by side and a separate area with a couch. upon entering the room i had a spasm of bed bug fear. fatima calmed my fears with her dr. oz talk and gave me the special suitcase thing to put my stuff on. by the time m-ji had arrived, we already had a game plan and our game plan involved dinner. we decided on the boathouse and i'm very glad we did. m-ji was down with our plan so we left soon after.

our original plan had to be to stay in and eat in so i wasn't dressed particularly well for dining at the boathouse and on our way out i bemoaned my frumpy sweater. m-ji lifted my spirits by claiming she had a frumpy sweater as well. turned out to be a faux frumpy sweater. turned out to be a cute sweater with some feminine detail. much different than the frump i was wearing. i didn't dwell on it though. we were there for seafood! we ate and we ate well. the boat house brings you fresh hot bread with herbed whipped buttah. for someone who hasn't purchased bread in months and months this was a very good beginning. then we shared some wok fried squid. yum! it was served with a tzatziki dip and there were delicious cherry tomatoes amongst the squid bits. 'squid bits'--i like that. i waffled about what to get. fahteem was getting the crab stuffed giant prawns which she confided were her favourite thing to get. well i wanted crab stuffed giant prawns too, but then my eye fell on the seafood boulliabase and my mind went back to that day quite a few years ago now, when a big group of us went out for dinner at a portugese place in north burnaby. i don't remember all who were there, but i remember it was at least, karey, me, randy, pete and leif, but there were many more. anyways that day i got a seafood soup--tomato base and it was the best ever. i've always remembered it and wanted more. so i ordered that and i was so glad i did. it was chalk full of the best seafood! a crab leg was sticking out of a cluster of muscles, there was salmon and scallops and shrimp. it was so so so so so good. i dipped my bread in it of course and had a wonderful time eating it.

after our seafood eating, we went back to the hotel and got into our pjs and ordered dessert on room service. fahts and i got the warm brownie and m-ji got cheesecake and chocolate ice cream. we were going to watch a movie but it cost 14 dollars so we were like -no way hosea. so we just talked and watched tv.

one thing that really caught our attention was the family on wife swap. it was the strangest family i ever saw. they didn't wear shoes. they slept in one room all together on the floor in sleeping bags. the kids were like 15 and 18 too. they played blue grass together, did yoga together. did everything together. their dad, 'poppa' threw around phrases like "cosmic saucer". they all spoke chinese, but were not of chinese decent. they had no furniture except a futon love seat in one room only. they got a mom who was totally a fish out of water there, although she tried to be a good sport about everything. both moms were actually totally fish out of water. we didn't get to see the end though.

we stayed up until around 1 and i woke up around 8ish. of course my budsee was already awake due to mine and m-ji's harmonious snores. i was relieved to have no bb bites. we had a lazy morning talking in bed and debating the kind of polygamy practiced on the show 'sister wives' and other such things.

we were out by 12. we were starving. m-ji got us nuts to tide us over. we went back to f-ji's to drop our stuff off. that's when we discovered that my car was gone--towed if you will. shock. horror. dismay. tim hortons. that's the way it goes.

before saying goodbye to m-ji we went shopping at the new joe fresh store down town. we decided to all get the same t-shirt. i got a blue one and the others got other colours that were NOT blue. we're triplets.

in the end it turned out that my car was towed because of some confusion about the visitor's parking pass. mr. and mrs. paid the price to set my whinney free but hopefully they will get the money back and figure out the parking pass mess.

mr. and mrs. and i hung out for a while all cozied up in their big bed watching a weird movie with matt daman in it and eating pizza. then i took my tired bad self home.

i wore my joe fresh t-shirt on monday and i rocked it. just saying is all.

sounds like a fun night and that seafood bouillabaisse sounds so amazing! What's life without good food, uh? And that family sounded too weird to be true. People like that exist?

That was a FABU weekend, despite the parking thing. And good pizza too! More parties like this are needed. Note it.
