anti-turtle statements

To live greatly, we must develop the capacity to face trouble with courage, disappointment with cheerfulness, and triumph with humility. --Thomas S. Monson

what a great quote. i want to live greatly, i really do. i want to reach my full potential. i want to shed the shackles of imperfection that keep me bound in clay. i want to be polished and bright--what i'm supposed to be.

i think living up to who you really are--who you're meant to be, takes courage. it's can be a fearful thought that the real you is someone shining and bright, somebody special and powerful. it's like that quote says

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others-- Marianne Williamson

it takes courage to stop being a turtle in the face of what's inside of you bursting to get out. i want to fight the turtle in me.
