one of dad's favourite quotes from David O. McKay:

If you are poor--work.
If you are rich--work.
If you are burdened with seemingly unfair responsibilities--work.
If you are happy--continue to work. Idleness gives room for doubts and fears.
If sorrow overwhelms you and loved ones seem not true--work.
If disappointments come--work.
If faith falters and reason fails--just work.
When dreams are shattered and hope seems dead--work.
Work as though your life were in peril--it really is.
No matter what ails you--work.
Work faithfully and work with faith
Work is the greatest material remedy available.
Work will cure both mental and physical ailments.

a card from martha made from blue construction paper folded in half and in half again. the front says : To: Laura Clarke
then there's a pig with a black circle with a line through it. inside it says:
Dear Lura, I'm sorry you had to get sick durring the weekend. Those anoying swines just wouldn't leave you alone. They were swimming in your kleenex every time you sneezed. nch, nich, nich. I'm afraind it's a hopeless case. It's plain to see that they loved you to sickness and they'll love you to deat too. I'm just sorrey.
illustrations of swine infestations on me and my kleenex are on the right hand side.

a heart outlined in bumps of yellow colour and left on my bed by mom with a peanut pillow, i think:
Tell
Laura
I
Love
Her!

a coloured drawing of Jafar frowning and this message on the upper right hand side:
To Laura:
I drew this and decided to give it some colour and give it to you. It's to remind you that when anyone frowns they can look as ugly as Jafar. Even you Laura. Doesent' he kinda seem to look how Laman or Lemuel would look? Ha ha. Anyways this should inspire you to smile because you don't want to end up looking like him, even in Japan. I *heart* U. Love Sarah-Lynnsie

yes i've been going through my memory box. why can't i bring myself, after all these years to get rid of the block of wood with a sheet of tin nailed to it where i hammered out a teddy bear with a heart in his middle and the words "girls camp" in an arc over his head, 1987 on the bottom? you'd think after 22 years and countless shuffling from box to box, house to house that i'd be able to put it in the garbage. i can't. i just can't. is there help for people like me?

Comments

Why would you get rid of it? I have two pieces of wood that Jordan nailed together when he was 3 and gave to me. It is an airplane. Its a treasure.

It's ok, I wont hold it against you if you throw away the jafar thing. I forgot I even gave that to you. I was so weird.

I don't think that you should throw anything away....keep them as keepsakes!

Okay then, Rhiannon says it is okay to let go of the block of wood. My block of wood (or should I say Rhiannon's?)is a treasure from Jordan. It doesn't sound like yours is.
