mom and dad are in love

so last night i trucked all my stuff over to mom and dad's for their photo shoot. they were very good about me taking apart their dining room. my idea was to have their baby picture wall as a background. so the table and all the chairs were removed and the chandelier was adjusted. before we began our session, we ate because we all know that a full belly is a happy belly. it's nice eating at mom and dad's because they always have such healthy meals now. last night we had some of paprika's chops. (thanks paprika!) the chops are from either side of the back, is what dad told me. dad makes a mean lamb chop. he also steams a mean asparagus. the asparagus were exactly how we like them. not only did we have tender asparagus but we had cheesy cauliflower too. we ate at the end of the table that was pushed into the living room. we enjoyed the delicious meal. dad's been doing a lot of cooking lately. dad is proud of his new garlic press. it's really the small things like chops and tender veggies and garlic presses that give us pleasure. after dinner i did my duty and finished off the neapolitan ice cream and dad had one of his sugarless fudge bars.

then we were ready. here's what we did. i feel like i need to remind you that i'm just a beginner and i'm just learning and practicing. one thing i didn't notice was the glare of the window on sarah's baby picture, and i didn't watch for the reflection in some of the other pictures, so that's one lesson i learned. anyways i hope you enjoy them and see what i saw when taking them--

mom and dad are in love

note the bunny ears dad is perpetrating below. if you can't tell that's the salt lake temple mom's holding. it's a whole families are forever theme. that's a large part of what mom and dad are about. a major theme of their lives if you will.

below, mom is saying "you're squishing my hair..." :) i wish i took away the temple pic for these next two photos. that's another thing i learned.

the dip and kiss series. i felt that this shot is one of their signature shots and a classic that needed to be done again. who can hear dad saying to mom before he left for work "come and get your treat."? and here we all are witnessing it.

this one forces me to chuckle and carries into a full out chortle. maybe you should click on it to see their faces.
dad had this 'picking up' idea but mom still had her crocs on...
this series is all blurry so don't even look for a clear one. i forgot that manual focus was on. some of them i just went with the blurry rather than fight it. you all know i have a soft spot for blur.
please note that dad's face is getting quite purple from the extended strain of his heroic action.
the aftermath: dad's pocket ripped, his glasses bent, one of the eye parts popped out which we didn't realize until later when he was trying to clean them... and mom's clothes were a little ruffled. :)

dad is whispering "i love you." to his true love.

these ones are their halo ones. especially dad.

yes. we know these faces.
our parents are cute.

i love this series. it was their idea and i liked it.

another priceless one:

i love these ones too. i like the pose and i love how beautiful mom looks in them. i think her eyes shine.

and that's the end! thanks for your COMMENTS. hint hint. :)

Dad and I love them Laura---some more than others---you did a great job considering what you had to work with. Some of the black and white ones made our skin look so mottled---how about some cosmetic surgery? Thanks for doing that---it was a fun time and now it is recorded. You're the best.

I love the blurred background, it really pops the subjects in the foreground. I also like the halo series-looks all New Era article like.

Those are SO great. In some of them, I can see how some people think I look like Mom (it is weird, I get people who just as adamantly insist I look EXACTLY like Mom and then the same about Dad. Dean's family generally think I am Mom's clone...) But really, those are so, so, so good. Why aren't you working as a portrait photographer? Really. And are these pics on your blog of significant enough pixels that I can save and print some? I'd like to make an 8x10 and then some 5x7's for my picture wall and then for my kids to have. What fantastic pictures!...
