a good day:
saturday was a good day:
1. a run on the dike-- i almost didn't go because it was so blustery out and i was later than i wanted to be. i'm so glad i did. it was blustery, but wonderful. i put my hood on and scrunched it around my face and happily walked and ran along the dike. i saw an eagle sitting on it's nest close to the path. i saw this when i first got there:

2. study of a great blue heron--there was a group of hunched herons lurking in the tall grasses again. after my run i got out my camera and lay on my stomach for around 45 minutes taking photos of this particular heron. my one eye was squished into the grass for most of that time. here's a small sample of the around 211 photos i took of this heron:

he had this weird feeling like somebody was watching him.

i like how he looks swishy and round here.
the feeling of suspicion is rapidly changing to accusation...
and this is when he suddenly took off.

3. small goal achieved--my goal this week was to develop some photos and frame them. it's why i was late getting out on my run. i chose some photos to enlarge to put on my walls and sent away for them to be developed, and i got a few smaller family pictures to put on my bedroom wall developed at london drugs. i picked them up after the study of the heron ended and after two cheese burgers and a large fry. my hair was hideous, but i didn't care. i then went to ikea, picked out some frames and later that night i hung my three new photos on my wall. i feel quite proud of myself.
4. star gazing--edith and i went out to the planetarium to look at the stars through their huge telescope. when we walked through the dark door we joined a group of other people who were looking at saturn. after this one girl who was hogging it for a long period of time realized there were other people there, we got a turn to see saturn. it was pretty cool. we saw the rings and some moons and everything. we decided to wait around a bit to see if they would show anything else and sure enough we got to see the moon! it was gorgeous, and so bright. i could have stared at it a long long time. i want a telescope like that of my own. and that's what i told edith. and she raised doubts as to #1, if it would fit on our balcony and #2, if our balcony could hold it. the whole time i hand the andrew sisters singing "hulabalooloo, don't bring lulu..." in my head.
5. hot fudge--we had some and it was good.
