if only i were writing this yesterday when i was still int the midst of euphoria

this is the water colour that i did when bethany was here.

this is how tired i was one day before i went to bed. i wanted it documented. this is a pretty good representation of how i felt. even the slight blur is good because it is a representation of my view from bleary red rimmed eyes.

i worked friday night and there was an incident. it involved two members on drugs who wouldn't leave. i had to call the cops. it was a little unnerving for me. one of the guys was really angry and aggressive and he kept coming closer to me. i wasn't sure if he was totally going to lose it and i kept trying to think of my conflict resolution stuff but all i could think of was to talk in a calm voice. so i did that but it's not like i diffused the situation or anything. my co-worker wasn't that helpful. he let me take the lead, but another guy was there. a member who knew both of the guys and he was really trying to calm them down and he kept stepping in between us. i really appreciate that actually. just that he kept stepping in front of the angry guy as he advanced towards me yelling and angry. looking back some of the things he said were funny. he said i was just throwing him out because i had a personal vendetta against him for not liking the food i made for supper. haha. i never thought about that. now that's a great idea! i can kick anyone to the curb who doesn't like the food i make! anyways he was still yelling at me while i was talking to the 911 operator and left but came back. just in time for the cops to come. the whole thing left my body coursing with adreneline and the only course of action open to me was to go back into the kitchen and decorate cupcakes and be cheerful. but after i got home that night, i went grocery shopping and i totally overshopped. like i've been so tight in my grocery spending but on friday night i was hungry shopping, but i wasn't hungry. i bought myself a haagen das and elicia one, and a magazine AND chips, not to mention new fuzzy mice for the cats. two bottles of vim too. i know. it's crazy.

so yesterday was beautiful. wasn't it? i mean it was. there's no denying that it was a beautiful day. i got up around eight thirty and after some lounging about, made a macaroni and cheese casserole. i didn't have with flour for the white sauce, so i used whole wheat and you know, it worked fine (i added cornstarch in to the flour just in case. that's lisa's influence. she trusts none but corn starch). but it wasn't white sauce anymore it was cream coloured causce with light brown flecks. but i added white cheddar, so naturally that counteracts the non white of the flour. anyways. i put it all in my new blue casserole dish that heather gave me for christmas. it looked pretty darn good. wrapped it up and put in the fridge.

meanwhile heather came to get my car to go to the dentist with. she hates to go alone. haha. i kill me, as giselia was wont to say.

ahem. heather got back at around eleven thirty. i was looking at yoga moves on the computer. i found this site that tells you the moves step by step AND has an animation of each move too. but i digress... our plan for the day was a day at boundry bay without time limits. elicia was on a banking errand but would meet us there. the first thing heather said to me was "do you mind if we go through a drive-thru or something. i'm so hungry and i don't have any food in the house. all i had was an apple." it was just what i knew she would say. well i didn't know the apple part but give me a break folks. i actually rehearsed it in my head before she got here. she thought i gave her an inimpressed look about it, but it was ok with me. i mean who am i to deny a person of food? and she ended up buying me lunch too and so i had nothing to complain about. we ate at subway in tswassen with a really weird inadequate parking lot. i brought my bag of doritos inside. i don't know why. actually i do. i wanted to put some doritos in my sandwich and i thought we would be eating inside, but it was so busy we decided to eat it at BB in the car.

when we drove up we could see an eagle in the the tree at the entrance to the parking lot. the way the sun was glinting off his head made him look bald. "he looks bald." i said not thinking of what i was saying. "yeah.. bald eagle." says heather. we parked and from where we were facing we saw another eagle and what we think was an imature eagle in a tree. we were stuffing our faces watching them when elicia pulled up beside us.

we felt festive.

i put on my binocs, my manual camera in it's case and put pinklet in my pocket. i liked the dorito dust off my fingers. i told heather how that would really bother lisa m. she hates dirty fingers and she hates the licking of said fingers.

this is a picture i took of heather looking at the birds. this picture is to honour the one that bethany took of elicia last week. it's my homage to her. here's to you bethany!

after staring and clicking an appropriate amount of time at these two, we left the parking lot and took what i now know is the 'raptor trail'. heather said her goal was to see an owl. it was heather's first time. elicia said her goal was to see a blue heron. my goal was to see it all. at first i thought we might be disappointed with the owl thing. afterall it was late afternoon the other times i had been there and seen owls. maybe they like the late afternoon. i didn't voice my fears though, and after a while we came upon a youth with a big camera and a tripod. he was watching something out on the 'moor' and we looked where he was looking. sure enough we saw an owl. he told us it was a 'short eared owl'.

he was too far away for a picture, i may have gotten one with my manual camera but that's a big maybe. we did she him through the binocs though and he was beautiful. circling low to the ground. i got this picture from the net. i picked it because it's a good shot of the wings which is what i noticed most when we were watching it.

i claimed that this was discarded owl dander. heather and elicia discuss this claim.

but really it's reed fluff and heather snaps off a reed and scatters it's fluff to the wind.

we walked the raptor trail and we saw what i believe is a red tailed hawk and also a northern harrier. there were tons of eagles all over. like i mean a bunch circling high in the sky. it was a good day for birds. heather named them all "swoopy" "i'm looking for swoopy." she'd say scanning the horizen with the binocs.

this blackberry bush cut my leg. grr.

elicia got her wish. we did see a heron before, this but he was farther away and so still and hunched that i thought he was a stump.

what the bush did to me.

i was trying to shoot my leg from a different angle. got myself instead. it's not the most flattering shot, but i'm sacrificing vanity because of the sky and the light and the byne-ocks.

the pond looks like liquid silver. like a pool of mercury.

elicia had to leave us to go to a baby shower but heather and i hung around for a while. i walked right under this eagle. heather couldn't get over this eagle. about how huge he is. she estimated that the eagle would be about mid thigh in person. i wasn't sure but i didn't argue.

we went down the road for a bit to see what the deal was with the farm house. 'relocated' and therefore not as interesting. on the way back i climbed up on top of the ridge by a ditch. no sooner did my head appear then flocks of scared ducks quacked wildly and flew away. frankly the scared ducks scared me.

heather says you can't see the moon in the day time in ontario. she thinks it'sa bit weird. here's our fellow and the moon.

closer up. heather wondered how big his poo would be. just then he lifted up his tail feathers and pooed. heather was very gratified. he flew away and we went under the tree to investigate. we couldn't tell if his poo was there, i mean it could have very well hit a branch--it's very likely, but then heather spotted what i have come to think of as the first bit of bird carnage. then we found more and more and more. apparently this is the feasting tree. maybe the eagles ate these birds, maybe some of the hawks, i just read thatone of the hawks i can't remember which one, sometimes eat's great blue herons! nevertheless carnage occurs at this tree. i documented it. heather said we were like csi investigating a murder. if you're squeemish about these things you may want to skip to the last pic. i thought it was pretty interesting.

a seagull's head.

a ripped off wing.

a foot. this one really grossed heather out. but she couldn't stop searching for more. i'd just take a picture and she'd be calling me to some new spot under the tree.

the breast bone picked clean.

a fish too!

and that's me. i looked like a total wild hippy girl yesterday but i didn't care. i had so much fun and being out in the sun filled me with contentment and peace.
