bread and cheese. bread and cheese. bread and cheese, bread and cheese, bread and cheese!
i love bread and cheese. right now white extra aged cheddar is the object of my affection.
yesterday elicia and i went to the temple. we left a little after seven and didn't get through the border until around nine. the border wait was uneventful and long. the border guard was suspiscious. he asked where we were going. "the lds temple in bellevue." i said. "mormon." says elicia. he screws up his face. "where?" "the lds temple" "mormon temple!" says elicia over me. "be quiet." i can't help but say to her. his suspicsion grows. he asks lots of questions like what do we do there, and how long i've been going and comments that we have a lot of stuff with us. looks in the trunk--lets us go.
at a gas station i had to get dibs because since jordan got them i've been wanting some of my own.
"do you think we'll see someone we know?" mused elicia as we drove along. sure enough as we're walking into the change rooms i see none other than firedug. i waved. turns out he and his wife were in our session and he came and said hello after. "have you seen my preggers wife?" he asked me in whisper. when his wife joined us i got introduced. she was very pregnant and very pretty. he told me they were due in october , "so say good luck to my kid." he adds, true dug fashion. i looked at his wife's belly and said "good luck kid." i mean who am i to deny an old friend?
we ate in the cafeteria. the girl dishing out the temple food was quite jolly. i asked about the ham dinner. i asked about the hot roast beef sandwich. she explained "it's like the ham dinner except there's no roll and it's roast beef and gravy on a roll. and er... vegg... or basically two side orders..." "um, i'll have the chili." i said. she reminded me of madison jensen for some reason. elicia got the chicken veg soup and some cottage cheese. "why'd you get cottage cheese?" i asked her. "because it's protein." she answered overlooking the obvious protein in the chicken. i ignored this. "but you just told me you can't have dairy." "oh. i forgot." elicia is like this. her mind is elsewhere.
on the way home we drove through isolated but heavy showers. that always seems to happen on temple trips. it rains so hard that you can't see the road at all. the road is frothy grey. all you can see is the top half of the car on front of you and that's what you (i) follow. then the sun is somehow shining in your (my) face reflecting off the water and froth and blinding you (me) even more.
we stopped at the outlet mall in tualip. i didn't know it was a massive outdoor mall. the gap was disappointing. very busy and totally picked through. it was for the best since i couldn't buy anything anyways and finding something wonderful would have been a mean twist of fate. fate was kind. at jcrew i found elicia some fabulous finds. in the changeroom we each claimed one of the cute guys working. mine was the cutest if i say so myself. elicia wore her new blouse today at church and i thought she looked really pretty. heather was also looking good in a new top and me, well i was dowdy in my worn out same old same old, but there is no bitterness in me about it at all. not one drop.
we watched coach carter last night. i like a good sports movie. i left to go pick barb up from the airport at a tense moment and i felt the tension in my stomach as i drove. everything was going well for barb until she chipped a nail and a family stood in front of her and blocked her way. she led me into the alley by her house on false pretenses but i managed to escape. "that's your last back alley drop off." i told her.
back at the homestead i was so tired but i watched the end of coach carter because i had to. i needed to. a pretty good ending to a pretty good movie.
i hear the tuna calling me.
