on monday for fhe we ended up going to iona beach again. this time we had a bigger group than just me and randy ((why is randy mean? asks dad) (dad, i need new shoes for gym. why should i get jim some shoes? replies dad)). this time scott, sarah, and heather were there too. the first thing i noticed when we pulled up was all the herons! there were around 20 (i counted them as far as i could see them) strewn along the coast. and there were people with awesome cameras with HUGE lenses in the marshy grasses taking pictures of them. i was so jealous. lots of time you see the herons and they do this sneaky walk and you think they're about to do something like nab a fish or a crab or something but then they just stop. i've watched them for lengthy minutes waiting for some action to no avail, but on monday night these birds were doing the sneaking walk and nabbing little silver fish, shaking them and gulping them down. maybe some crabs too. it was hard to tell. i so wished that i had the equipment to document the sight. but anyways it was a nice night and i gathered wild flowers as we walked down the road next to the jetty. every time i saw a new kind i added it to the bunch. by the time we were done i had a pretty little bouquet. sarah was by far the peppiest amongst us. she charged up the curved concrete of the jetty from the utility road beside it that we were walking on, she jumped down again and she charged down the jetty on random gallops. i preferred peaceful meanderings and flower picking like ferdinand the bull.
i gave blood today. i've been meaning to go back for a long time, but kept putting it off. it was on the way to work that i heard on the radio that they need all types of blood right now so i thought "i'll do something about it right now!" so i called and booked an appointment that very second. and the good thing about it was not only did i get raspberry juice and two oreo cookies, the appointment was at four fifty five, so i didn't have time for a long nap, which i sooo wanted to do. instead i snoozed for ten minutes and then had to go. how come a person drools during naps but not during the night? why?
