shamrock day

today's barb's birthday. happy birthday barb friend.

yesterday and the day before i forgot to put my hobby into practice. yesterday i found out that i owe blockbuster thirty nine dollars because i brought a movie back late. apparently i own it even though i brought it back. they guy said i could pick out two movies instead if i wanted but i had to pay thirty nine dollars. i was like i'm not paying it, and we left. when i got back into the car i realized that my stomach was clenched. it was too bad because heather had a coupon for blockbusters and they had kinky boots which we've been wanting to see, and rogers only has one copy which is never there. aaaaand they had the work and the glory movie, the second one. they called it 'gritty'. plus heather was buying rece peanut butter cups, the minis, and what's better than that?

so we went to rogers instead and got a good year with russell crowe and albert finney and stranger than fiction which heather loves so i might like it too. and then we went across to king sushi to get our orders which had been waiting for us for quite some time. i got gyoza and a yam roll. i love gyoza and yam rolls. heather ate with us then left because it was too late for her to watch a movie because she was going to the temple the next day early (that's today). so elicia and i watched a good year. part way through the movie elicia asked me "laura is albert finney daddy warbucks???" "yes!" i told her. "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" it was a revelation to her. she said his voice was always familiar but she couldn't place it until right then when she put all the pieces together. a good year also had the boy from finding neverland. his name is freddy and he's just so likable.

we stayed up and talked for a while before we went to bed. each kitten was cozily situated on his or her respective mom. elicia's all excited about this comb that jannabananaiknoweverythingabout allanimalseverwherecometomeandrevelinmywisdom told her about. she's going to steveston today to a special store just to buy it. she wanted me to come along but i balked because i want to do things in the opposite direction today. that's when i got the you never want to do things with me or spend quality time with me speech. the "passing me the bobbypins in the morning is not quality time" speech. of course we were currently having quality time. so i laughingly told her that and then we got into the war of who has the most in the freezer which actually stemmed from me saying i did not want uncle helke's cariboo hide up on our livingroom wall. which was all very funny. in the end we realized that we had so much freezer space it was silly to argue about who had the most stuff and i said i would try to look at the cariboo hide, if it ever came, with an open mind before giving my opinion.

yesterday was my early day at work and so i did what i customarily do. i got home, fed the cats and had a nap. naps are lovely things. then when no more nap was left in me, i returned katie's call. the exciting thing is that she may come visit me next week. i don't have any days off next week though and so she needs convincing that she'll still have fun if i'm not there during the day. we'll have so much fun in the evening that it will be worth it i promised. so i really really really hope she comes. we talked about running and i told her about how i need new runners and that my shins were starting to hurt and how i had a blister on my arch, and she was like is it the bone or beside the bone or is it the muscle? and i was like i don't know. and she was like you have to know. but i didn't. but she told me which one was from shin splints and which one was a stress fracture (but i kind of forget which is which now), and gave me encouragement for buying shoes. i need encouragement because i'm intimidated to go to the running stores for shoes because i think they'll look at me and be all, whatever, and not care to get me the best shoe ever, but katie said those stores promote running and they'll be encouraging to anyone who is trying to run and not be all 'here have any old shoe', and she told me some of the things they do to find you the best shoe ever, and so i felt a little better about that. maybe i'll wait until she comes to visit me to buy the shoe! yah! katie is a good shopping partner and my first shopping partner. the one who helped me perfect the eeny meeny minie moe technique. i don't think i have enough money for a shoe, but maybe i'll figure it out. maybe by figuring i'll have enough.

i found out while talking to katie why she has not been commenting on my blog. she's behind. how behind? i asked. well it turns out she's way back by the roman numerals pictures! and she is strict in not going ahead. katie katie katie! catch up!
