return to cold stone creamery

(my title's from such traditions as return to witch mountain and return to snowy river btw)

so i spent the hugest part of my day yesterday cleaning in my pjs. it was very satisfying actually to scrub down the kitchen and pile the clean dishes high in the rack, not to mention cleaning our grainy floor all over, tidying up the living room, putting the kitten's toys away, and emptying the stinky litter box. after that i sat down tired but happy.

when karey got home she suggested we all go down to bellingham and visit our nearest cold stone creamery. elicia yelped with excitement at the suggestion and heather was all for it as well, so who was i to say no? the only problem was that my hair was the grossest mass of nesting materials ever, so i jumped in the shower, washed it good and pinned it up, put on my jammies and a kerchief. i was ready. this wasn't a trip to impress anyone. this was a trip for one reason only. ice cream.

none of us had eaten much that day. i had an orange, a necterine and two peanutbutter toasts at around 11 and that was it, so we stopped at wendy's on the way. the two momentus occassions at wendy's were #1, i actually had a competent and friendly staff person, which seems rare at this particular wendy's. so it was enjoyable being served by her, and that's all. #2, heather saw a guy from church who she just recently realized knows her dad and his family from way back in the england days. she saw him right at the point of her ordering food process when she remembered she left her bank card in the car. so she didn't know whether to run to the car or stand and chat. she was a little all over the place yesterday. we ended up waiting in the car for heather, but she was hearing all about her grandad, so it was a forgivable waiting.

at the border, we got a fastidious dude who was a little odd to us. but whatever he let us through and then we were on the road, singing to the tunes and feeling good.

there was a long line up at cold stone when we got there. it was elicia's first time so we gave her some tips for a good time and cold stone. the most important tip is this: get the "i like it" size, no matter how much you feel persuaded to have the "i love it" size. the i like it size looks small but it's decieving and the i love it size makes you feel like barfing after you eat it. karey made promises to each other that we would only get the i like it size, but i was feeling the pull towards the i love it, just like i always do. i held firm and didn't regret it one bit. holy moly they stuff a lot into the i like it. there was a guy by us in the line up who got a "gotta have it" size and that was unbelievably big. i don't know how he can eat it without feeling sickerooni. ugh.

i was looking for something new to try, so i got monkey bites, which had banana, crunchy bar, pecans, coconut and caramel in it. not bad. karey got an apple pie one because she is a sucker for the graham cracker crumbs. heather got a turtle one and elicia got a chocolaty one. while we were eating outside this group of people arrived all wearing grey tops. one guy with hair, in karey's words "longer than mine", but with short bangs, gave us a look and then when they were inside we all laughed about the oddity of the grey shirts but when karey and i looked up he was staring at us from inside and gave us a weird nod. wheb we were finished we felt satisfied but we didn't want to go home yet so we waltzed over to target to have a lookiloo.

there was an area rug there made of looped wool that i really liked, but it was 150 american big ones. karey, elicia and i looked for stuffties. we're getting stuffties and taking pictures of them from wherever we are and doing whatever we're doing and sending them to each other while we're seperated. it'll be hardest for me because i don't have a digital camera, except for my camera phone, but oh well. anyways, they didn't have a big stufftie selection there, and nothing there seemed quite right, so we abandoned that. elicia ended up getting a cool hat and karey got the sisterhood of the traveling pants books and heather got her missing harry potter dvd. i got nothing and nil.

i did look myself up in the wedding registry and apparently i married a guy named chuckie in virginia this last may. laura and chuckie. has a certain ring to it.

when we got home i watched the rest of sabrina. i didn't really like humphrey bogart as lianus that much. he was too old and sad looking next to audrey. audrey with the star quality something.
