it was so nice last night, i wanted to go for a walk. another reasoning behind this desire--didn't want to fall asleep. the threat of an unplanned nap was real and vibrant. however, karey's back was really sore so she didn't want to. she began to snooze in spite of herself on the couch while i checked the blogs. reading all the blogs can be a hearty passtime these days what with the welcome additions of karey, elicia, karen and slavica. anyways heather came upstairs and asked in her loud breathy whisper if i wanted to go on a walk. "yes." i said. elicia came too. it was nice to be out in the springtime mildness with cherry blossoms and daisy trees (we don't know the real name, but they're trees with what look like daisies on them. very fragrent). the grass was green and the sun was shining and we walked to QE park, walked around, looked at the cute adolecent ducks, at flowers and views etc. there was a lady with a voice like nails down a chalk board that bugged heather. we had to keep waiting for her to get far ahead of us. we sat on a lot of benches. i always read the dedication on the bench. my favourites were dedicated to couples. i imagined them to be old and happy to sit together on park benches, still in love with each other and with parks. at a north east corner of the park on the lowlands, there is a big stone with a story about a girl who moved to vancouver from the phillipines when she was little and forgot her favourite umbrella. she cried for it and felt lost without it in rainy vancouver (she had used to to shield from the sun) but later she grew up and moved away and it was for vancouver that she felt homesick.

on the way home i walked us right into a mud sucking area. mud squished into my shoes. jonathon was there talking to karey about the acadamy awards and other stuff. i showed them my muddy feet and they were appropriately grossed out.

i made japanese chicken curry for the first time in a long looooooooong long time today. very tasty. then i started preparing stuff for mango ice cream. i hope it works out. the ice cream maker bowl thingy is freezing in the freezer in prepreation, but i got everything else ready. it's exciting. i love my ice cream cookbook. so many neato things to make and joy in.
