my saturday:

the enjoyable thing about my saturday was the blissful lazing about. after fatima and i ended our convo, i wandered about an almost empty house. everyone but sarita, who wasn't feeling well, had gone to chandra's pumpkin patch birthday. i had some ideas of what i'd like to do but instead wandered downstairs and watched a little tv with sarita and then into karey's room and listened to the music she had downloaded while playing spider solataire. then something happened to end my aimlessness. tania called. she wanted to go out to eat and i told her i couldn't because of being penniless. she solved this by saying it was on her. i told her nope no way, but she wouldn't be dissuaded. so in the end we went to slimz, because tania wanted bbq, but then it turned out that she didn't like smokey flavour. so why bbq?? she doesn't make sense at times. but what did i care? i liked mine. so then, because nobody sounded like there were going to bring me back a pumpkin for sure, i went in search of one. when there wasn't one at superstore, i searched in two different safeways. nothing. well at one safeway i saw a woman walking out the door with one, but it must have been the last one. tania thought i was crazy looking all over for a pumpkin. "it's for keeds!" she said. we're all kids at heart tania. we drove home in defeat. tania said sorry to me in a way someone does when they never thought you'd be able to find a pumpkin in the first place. hmph. she left shortly there after and all the girls came home. scott didn't carve his pumpkin so they brought it home for me. i settled happily in front of the tv (watching pride and predjudice), scooping out pumkin guts and carving my matsterpiece on the fleshy orange orb.

my sunday

...was good. elicia and i picked up two korean girls, one a new member named sophie and her investigator friend. they were really cute/sweet girls. it was nice having elicia back with us during the meetings, now that she's been released. dan, jacinta and drew spoke in sacrament. they're all newish arrivals to the branch and their talks were pretty good. drew is a good story teller. after church i grabbed an avacado cheese sandwich and heather and i watched the rest of pride and prejudice. we kept rewinding to the spot where darcy stared at elizabeth with glowing eyes and the first hint of a smile on his face in the whole movie. we love that part. and of course when he first dives into the weedy pond and then meets her on the grounds. ahhh such a satisfying movie. jonathon and hector came to home teach us before the movie was over and hector spent quite a bit of time in the upstairs bathroom. there were repeated flushes much to karey's mirth. hector gave the message and he was so cute. very serious and intense but often confused and muddled. jonathon brought us treats and so was in our good books. they were these cookies i've never had before. thin and brittle but shortbread tasting and waffle looking. he stole them from his mom. baaad boy.

my monday

halloween started for me at 6:10 in the morning when i rose from my warm bed to smear karey's face with blue paint. she was smurfette and gunning for the big prize at work. and so she did. she won tickets to the cannucks game, lucky duck. so much for intrinsic enjoyment. sarita was frida khalo (wearing my fake flowers and my bracelets), heather was in my red crayola costume, and elicia was pippi longstocking (wearing my stripie knee highs). i was the gung ho candy giver. at first it looked like our trick or treaters would be limited to single digits but after six thirty the numbers spiked and we had approximately 61. i kept track of course, writing it down after each door encounter. i gave out handfulls. it was fun. kids are cute.
