well i've been gone on another clarke adventure. what other kinds are there for me?
so friday after work i picked up my purse, saw dad and jord briefly, dropped my film off at superstore, and came home. it was friday and i so therefore i was wasted. when i say wasted i mean that i was so tired that it's impossible to keep my eyes open, and my body in the upright position. i crawled onto the couch and lay there like the lump i am. all too soon, (maybe 15 minutes later) karey and elicia were home, and i forced myself up onto my feet. and it wasn't easy, let me tell you, but once you get momentum you go with it. we packed ourselves up in about 20 minutes, and put all our gear into mine and elicia's cars. elicia was so excited she kept piping up jubiantly every time karey and i asked something of each other. for example, i said to karey "are you bringing toothpaste?" elicia from her room jumps in before karey can answer, "i do! i have toothpaste!" i don't say anything in reply but karey and i exchange looks. meanwhile elicia is saying over and over from behind the door in her room "i have toothpaste! i have toothpaste!" finally i smile and say "if only someone had toothpaste... who could have some?" she knows i'm teasing her now, and she says "shaadup". i tell karey to bring mustard and elicia runs in and says we can use her mustard and here, take her mustard, we can use it. and then i say cheese we can bring my cheese, but she grabs her cheese and says, we can use my cheese, look i have cheese we can use. :) it was very amusing to me.
so we headed off for our weekend of camping with high spirits. we stopped at superstore to buy our groceries and so i could pick up the pictures. unfortunately sisters, almost none of them turned out. one group shot on the ferry turned out. i think it was the same problem dad was having with that camera, so i'll have to take it in to be looked at. we got a good assortment of camping junk food, and staples for our meals. karey got some ice from the gas station, we packed the car and then we were on our way.
our first obsticle on our journey hit us right after the bridge in surrey. from surrey to abbotsford we inched along. it was a long long hour for us. we saw some interesting people, like the guy karey called the perv who kept checking us out, and the man in his 60s who's whole car was leppord print down to the leppord print dice hanging from the rearview mirror, and the cat paw print licence plate border. karey was hungry and once we could get going again, i refused to stop. i mean we were finally on our way. it's the dad in me. but if she needed to throw up i would have stopped however reluctantly. so we finally get into chilliwack turn by the bridge, and down the long road beside the river into the wilderness. it was beautiful country. just past the correctional centre, we turned onto the dirt road that would be home to obsticle number two. from the start we took many wrong turns, and even when they were right, we weren't sure and second guessed ourselves. it started raining harder and harder and it got dark, and we still hadn't found gab and the gang. we drove down deep deep deep into the woods in the dark rainy night on terribly pot holed roads. we turned around a couple of times and checked out every site we saw a couple of times and went back, and finally with elicia fretting behind us, and with at least an hour of searching under our belts we decided to try to get into cellphone range to phone barb and nikki who were behind us somewhere. the only thing was, that we didnt' get into range until we were almost back into chilliwack. once there, barb and nikki were not in range. they probably passed us on the road. so we decided to get a hotel in chilliwack. we look all over, find one, and noope. no vacancy. in fact no vacancies in chilliwack at all. apparently there was a convention. whatever. who conventions in chilliwack? dumdums that's who. so we thought maybe we'll sleep in our cars at the chruch. so we find the church. gated. gates are closed. so we check out hotels in abbotsford. all full. overflow from chilliwack and ball games. forget it we say. we're going home. meanwhile elicia is causing us some concern, having her bright lights on when she was following behind us (i know i know i'm sorry. i wasn't paying attention she says) and driving really slow. we lost her outside of abbotsford because she was driving so slow. strangely though she pulled into the garage, just as we came into the house. that's because she was going so slow she didn't know it and then started going so fast she didn't know it. we left all the stuff in the cars and fell into our beds. it was 12:30am. we had been in our cars for 6 and a 1/2 hours.
the next morning i woke up around 8 and joined karey and heather in the living room. elicia nd sarita got up soon after we were watching this irish movie, when we got a call from barb and nikki. they had found the place after getting just as lost as us. they found the camp site at about the same time we crawled into our beds. they came into chilliwack to buy nikki a new and even better, warm sleeping bag, and got the message we left for them. it didn't take much begging from them to get karey and i back on the road to chilliwack. elicia opted out this time. barb and nikki waited in chilliwack and we drove in together. the frustrating thing was that we were really close to the place but we gave up and turned around. so close yet so far. after this karey and i both assert that we wanted to go further down the road. and now i need a break from telling this story.
