so last night steve and i were supposed to go to the symphony to see pepe romero. i got all ready, picked up steve, we parked at our usual garage, didn't need to go to the bank machine, headed straight for the ticket booth and there it was, the sign to wreck our hopes and dreams "SOLD OUT" in the ticket booth window. this had never happened before, and now we were left to wander from book store to book store in a state of shock. :) at chapters steve showed me Camille Paglia's 'marvelous' book, Break, Blow, Burn. it's a book of her favourite poems and then her commentary on them. she takes her title from one of my favourite John Donne poems. i also found a book of Dylan Thomas poems with a cd of him reading them. i wanted both but bought none. then we wandered crowded and hot robson didn't go to milestone's but bought some smoothies at jugo juice. tasted just like booster juice, and all this time i've been loyal to booster juice. well no longer. eventually we made our way back to steve's and watched merchant of venice. it was very good. i think my favourite person to watch was shylock. he was so interesting, so full of pain and malice and his end was so tragic, it didn't make me happy at all but sorrowful. but i think that is more true. most villians aren't faceless monsters but more like us than we like to think.
speaking of villians, tania called me this morning to tell me that she saw pepe romero last night. her spanish friend had a ticket. she thought i was there, and kept looking for me. cruel irony.
