empy nester syndrome
everyone in my house is abed. they have been for quite some time. not i. i have been watching around the world in 80 days with jackie chan. in general it is a silly movie as one expects it to be, but i must confess that i did laugh out loud on occasion and i am not ashamed of it.
i've been wearing amay's delightful hug of a blanket around my shoulders all night. i love its soft white lamb/angora/cashmere/acrylic/nylon feel, not to mention it keeps me warm and modest when i can't wear my usual 'i heart mom' t-shirt for my pj top because it is drying in the furnace room.

after red robins we went back out into the cold night. i was wearing my rainbow scarf that sarah gave me, karey was wearing a rainbowish scarf (doesn't have all the colours) and her rainbow mitts i gave her one christmas and sarah was wearing the rainbow scarf elicia knit karey one year. in fact elicia was the only one 'sans rainbow' in our party. we stopped at an interesting store full of interesting things that i like to look at on occasion (i also like to say 'on occasion', on occasion.). at one point during my browsing i looked up to see karey laughing with an early greying man, a worker at the store. i thought she must know him, since they seemed to be quite familiar with each other. i had just heard her say "... that's my friend." while chuckling with the man and looking at me. i waited for her to introduce me, but she didn't. it turned out that she didn't know him at all. he came up to her and said "now be careful. watch that girl (talking about me) she's going to try to steal your mittens." he didn't know we all came in together. well we all had a good laugh about it, but i wonder if he then thought that we were really together if you know what i mean. we saw many an interesting item in the interesting store, but we had to leave because it was closing, so we made our next stop at roger's chocolates. karey and sarah shared a cheesecake carmel apple and elicia purchased a tiger butter one. laura sampled a little of each. next was virgin records where they met (and not for the first time either) the girl with the shaved eyebrows. she works there and she shaves her eyebrows and pencils them in huge unnatural and uncanny arcs. she's very friendly, but it's hard to look her in they eye without staring rudely. sarah and i also discovered a shelf with soaps and creams and the like. it had the wash away your sins brand for liars cheaters and wrong doers, but it was a certain soap for men that included directions similar to "slather your big meaty hands and wash delicately" that got us going. we went on that theme until we were laughing so hard i wanted to cry, and my side hurt. karey and elicia just gave us weird looks. we came home and fell asleep watching while you were sleeping, which is quite ironic. now sarah and aiya are gone and our house is quiet and lonely.
